98' because it was all about 1 guy - the consensus GOAT, aka goat expectation/pressure - no one else had that expectation or pressure that the GOAT had

1998 because it was the highest rated all time. Didn't need suspensions and things like that either.

2016 by far…

Coming back down 3-1 (never done before) against the greatest team of all time (73-9), we won’t ever see that happen again in our lifetime

No one ever expects Bran to win

his teams only win 42-58 games from 2011-2023 (except 13'), so his teams are always viewed as below the best teams even though his teams start the season as the on-paper favorite/preseason favorite.. It's a clear-cut case of preseason favorites becoming underdogs due to bad brand of ball or lower strategic capacity/coaching, aka lebron-ball

Braindead casuals: 'Bu-bu-but that 73-win team in the 2016 finals was overrated'

Lakers become the first team to win back to back in 19 years.

It was 2016. Certainly the most epic one.

Doesn't make Bran the GOAT though, but it does take him into top 3-5 player ever territory.

Top five for me would be Lakers/Pistons(88), Cavs/Warriors(16), Celtics/Lakers(84), Celtics/Lakers(66), Hawks/Celtics(57)

What's so iconic about 2016? All the games were blowouts except for Game 7, and that one was a brickfest. 2013 was a lot better and it's not even in my personal top 5. Also lol @OP hiding poll results because he spammed his own poll with his 20 alts to suck his idol off.

Isn't that the very same year in which kobe was the worst player in the league? :kobe:

It's not that memorable of a series overall though. You're really only talking about the last 2 minutes of that series. 2013 Finals is so much better.

Do you know what "iconic" means? The '98 Finals as a series overall wasn't that great, but it's still on the list because of MJ's shot and it's to this day the most viewed Finals ever. Questioning why 2016 is iconic is LOL worthy.

If you base "iconic" off a couple moments, then 2013 is better than 2016 by every metric and it's not even on your list lol. The Lakers - Celtics Finals in the 80s were iconic. The '93 Bulls - Suns series is iconic with one nail-biter after another and a 3OT game, plus the Paxson game-winner to end the series in Game 6. The 2011 Finals is iconic for a couple of reasons -- whether you love watching Bran choke or whether you love seeing a team of hungry vets dismantle a superteam that thought it would be easy just cause of their talent.

Cavs - Warriors you had 6 straight blowouts in a row and both Steph & Bran played poorly in the first half of the series and there was only one good game you'd want to go back to. I just can't get there with 2016 being the MOST iconic series ever. Sure, you can argue it's one of the more memorable ones because of the outcome but as a series it really wasn't that great.

Based on TV ratings both of the Bulls 3peats are far and away the most viewed . MJ got more views than bird and magic combined, and the 90s were by far the biggest fan base for NBA in America.

In recent times the 2015-2017 warriors cavs battles were most viewed and I felt had the strongest atmosphere. 2010 Lakers Celtics, 2011 Heat Mavs, and 2013 heat spurs was awesome too. Danny Green going nuclear and of course rays shot is one of the most iconic plays ever.

Ratings nowadays are in the toilet, but I'll watch the playoffs.

It was definitely iconic for me watching it as a teen.

I remember that entire finals how the Bulls struggled. It was by no means a given they would have won.

Jazz had their number as a team, but that's when Jordan stepped up.

I remember it so clearly, each game had sequences where Jordan was being tested and asked to do the impossible, and as I recall, every single time he stepped up. It was like watching a legend from fiction, a mythical hero. Can he do it? For sure he can't do it again? Yes! He can.

And everything culminating in "The Shot" of course. It was such an orgasmic release of basketball prowess, the eclipse of an era, that it felt like MJ in some way created and ended the basketball craze. Everyone was sort of b-balled out after that. How can you listen to the Jonas Brothes when you've seen the Beatles? How can you digg Nelly and Lil Wayne when you just had Tupac, Biggie and Nas? It was like that, everyone sort of went to other things and only emerged with the Lakers 3-peat.

Personally I had to wait a long time to find my passion again, culminating when the Spurs destroyed the Heatles with an all new brand of motion basketball, that incidentally launched a new era of high movement, ball sharing basketball.
