How would those Chicago teams have done in perhaps the most stacked era ever?

They'd have to compete with Boston, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, and Detroit in the East; and of course the Lakers out west. This was the post-merger, pre-expansion team dilution of talent era. Where several teams had HOFers coming off the bench.

Heavily swings based on officiating. Things could get physical and out of control easily in the 80s and Bulls don't have a strong inside presence. If refs don't keep things under control, Bulls get worn down and beat up, literally. Otherwise, MJ gets to the line at will and is unguardable. Meanwhile on D, the Bulls hound opposing ball handlers. Bulls go toe to toe with anyone. Just look at 1990 playoffs. Bulls could've won a title with slightly different officiating.

The 90s Bulls played in the 80s ... are you talking about the 95-98 version, I'm assuming?

Presumably you're taking the 91 Bulls, dropping them into 1980 and then asking how successful they are against the best of the 80s. Otherwise, dropping the 84 Bulls into 1980 with a rookie Jordan, Pippen and Grant coming along around 83 or 84, waiting for them to develop, and then having them approximately be at the level they were in 91 at the end of the 80's, obviously produces a much different result.

Minimum 8-peat, just like the 90’s

Different versions of the Bulls match up better against different versions of the best 80's teams. It just depends....the 98 Bulls were different from the 92 Bulls just as the 82 Lakers were different from the 88 version. So, could the Bulls beat the Celtics, for example? Well, which Bulls team and which Celtics team?
