Brooks ego killed the team. Not only did he light a fire under the opponent, he played and shot like shit himself.

Probably the worst case of trash talking backfiring in NBA history.

I would not want this dude anywhere near my team. He talks shit then ducks the media after losses, and is legitimately atrocious offensively. I honestly wonder if anybody's gonna sign him.

LeBron cost the man 25k. He was too humiliated to talk to the media after that beatdown and took the fine. Ship his ass out to China. How did that bitch even get into the NBA to begin with?

He wasn't even "keeping it real", he was just shit talking the biggest name in the game for attention, all while being an albatross offensively despite being left open most of the time.

Under no circumstances? Sounds like something you say to a domestic abuser or something.

It tells me he has zero support, not even in the locker room. Teammates can't stand him.

I'm sure what happened in this last series didn't help but they wouldn't get rid of him just for that trash talk. This has likely been brewing for a long time.

I thought about that. Lebron is the type to beef with someone then put his arm around him, like Draymond and Lance Stephenson. Draymond hated the guy, now he's his best friend.

I just don't know if Brooks is that good of a ball player. He's a borderline NBA player and he's about as good as he's going to get, not close to being worth it if he's a locker room issue as well. Not bad for minimum salary but pass otherwise.

Isn't it funny and we go back a few years the Suns were supposed to aquire him in a 3 way deal with Washington.

But Memphis thought the Suns wanted MarShon Brooks instead and when they realized it was Dillon Brooks they were wanting they abandoned the trade.

The whole time they were negotiating a trade involving the wrong player :oldlol:

Dray is insanely high IQ.

I give him the most credit for Golden States success. He's the heart and soul of the team and admitted he created their defensive philosophy.

One of the all-time greats

This. I feel bad for him, he's clearly an idiot but I'm sympathetic with idiots :lol

He could be like Pat Bev if he stopped taking so many shots. The coach had to reign him in. I watched him troll curry after containing him so let's not act like he doesn't have ability. He can play defense.

Under any circumstances? What if he offers to play for free? He could even take odd jobs around the team to make himself useful. He just gets to stay in the locker room, sit on the bench, and maybe sleep in the arena when his money runs out?

He might get undervalued. I wouldn't want to start him but you don't just go from being a starting 2 on a playoff team to not worth a contract. Hard to take a guy you had at the fore front and make him a reserve and take reserve money but some other team could benefit if he's paid a small salary.

I feel like his offense almost makes him unplayable. His pathetic playoff showing wasn't even a one off, he shot 49%TS during the regular season, which is unfathomable for a perimeter player in this era. He reminds me of a homeless mans Tony Allen, who I felt was a poor offensive player (still better than Brooks) but played legitimately ATG defense, something Brooks is not providing.

You add in his off the court shenanigans, I don't see much of an upside for him.

The humbling will probably do him some good. It will either allow him to focus more on basketball and improve his game or he will lose his confidence and fade away into obscurity. I think he's worth the gamble. He might be good coming off the bench for Denver or Dallas.

That’s why the Lakers should go hard aggressively after Brooks. LeBron can straighten out his attitude. He could use more wind defenders against Curry

If I were a GM I might consider signing him, but there's no way I'd guarantee his contract. Make sure he understands that the first time he screws up, he's out the door.

He's not worse than Patrick Beverly, which is the closest comparison. He'll land somewhere. Yes. He's a chronically dirty player, but his greatest "crime" was pretty much "PR related". He talked about the biggest star in the game and was unable to back it up, resulting in a lot of undesired media attention and was a distraction during the playoffs. His limited on court contribution simply doesn't justify his baggage on a team that is looking to contend right now. Again, he will probably sign with a team like the Hornets or Rockets which shouldn't receive that much attention for the next couple of seasons.

- He's the fall guy in a squad of idiots

- He embarrassed his team with his antics which were likely already wearing thin

- 1st round exit = fumbling the bag for his employer

- Outrageous hubris without a winning resume

- Talk shit to an all time great and then get deuced on by said hof'er

- Acting like a smug prick when in front of the mics

- Lack of accountability and professionalism come time to speak to media when they bottom out

- Make falsehoods and play dumb about the media cultivating your villanious reputation when you've been feeding off negative attention all year.

Shall I go on.

This dude can add value to a team but he needs a ****ing psychologist. Never seen a player with so much unearned arrogance.

He's actually much worse than Beverley because Beverley is aware he's a limited offensive player.

I wouldn’t mind that. He’s actually a pretty good defender who can annoy the sh** out of any player in the league. He wouldn’t take too many dumb shots on a proven championship caliber team. The issue is the Grizzlies have no leader and all act like a bunch of young retards, which seems to be almost contagious. Brooks wouldn’t act that way imo if he was f.ex. on this Laker team, Warriors or teams who have vets who have accomplished alot and have big names you have respect for.

Convenient fall guy, Brooks scored as many points in Gm 6 as Morant and in Gm 4 Morant only had 8 more points on a Westbrookian 8/24.
Shouldn't start a guy if he isn't a starter, blame is more on organization and coaches for not benching him and finding better players.

Brooks, sources say, turned down an extension offer earlier this season and has said publicly he is looking for a bigger role than the 3-and-D one he has been playing in Memphis. (https://theathletic.com/4484592/2023/05/03/joel-embiid-mvp-chris-paul-injury/) An early look around at his market does indicate there will be some interest in his services around the league.

They figure a guy like Udoka could buckbreak him and keep him from running his mouth to the media. Outside the poor attitude, brooks is still good defender and glue guy.
