Jaylen Brown and Ja both looking to become Supermax eligible. Ja gets 40 million extra if he makes a team. Tatum in a similar situation but there’s no question he will.

Im curious who makes third team at center. They’re getting rid of the automatic center spot going forward but this year has them. KAT missed too much time. I guess it’s Bam vs Sabonis. Sabonis isn’t Supermax eligible because he’s not on his original team. Not sure if Bam can still have his existing extension bumped up like Ja. I’ll have to look into that.

I also wonder if they fixed the glitch on the system that let some previous garbage(relative) bigs sneak in. Deandre Jordan was all nba first team because Draymond votes were split between forward and center and the nba only counts your votes towards whichever one you get the most for. So none of his center votes counted.

Jaylen could get votes for both I bet. Would suck to lose 40 million over it.

Isn't Rudy the Wolves center? And Bam played center this season so most likely him or Sabonis.

KAT and Rudy would likely both get center votes…if they were getting votes at all.

Major competition among the guards. There are going to be some guys not making it who had great seasons.

said this in the defense thread

so might as well say it here too

20% of the vote goes to fans/coaches/players/media/analytics for 100% total

certainly a compromise

Booker
Steph
Ja
Brunson

Steph, Mitchell, Brunson, Luka, SGA, Jaylen, Booker, Ja, Fox…hell Dame put up like 32ppg on a bad team. 4 of those guys not making it at all feels dirty.

Booker and Brunson and Harden got left off the All-Star team, will they do a make-up selection?
Fox only made it because Steph was injured I think.

In theory Brown and Luka could make it at forward. Not sure about their criteria.

I think

Luka
SGA
Curry
Ja

are near lock to make it. It's going to come down to Harden/Booker/Mitchell for the final 2, idk who of those 3 they're leaving off :lol I don't think Fox makes it, and I'd be surprised despite his great production if Dame did. Jaylen's listed as a SF so idk if he'd make it as a guard.

Anybody who couldn't even lead a 10 seed deserves to be left off. Harden is hard to omit. Maybe swap him out for mitchell.

Curry and Booker missed a lot of games. Curious to see how much weight is given to that.

I doubt it. He played only 56 games on a play in team.

People forget how beastly he was in the RS, especially before the injury.

His standards are outrageous.

No AD too lol.

Glad to see Shai on the first team. Epic season carrying a weak cast. Also glad to see Dame and Brown make it.

Tatum on the first team will annoy certain people :lol but was an obvious choice.

I am no fan of Morant, but I'm really surprised a guy who was on the 2nd seed with good averages was left off altogether.

I'm also surprised they couldn't find anybody to replace Butler, who had solid but far from stellar production on a team that dropped from the 1st seed to the 8 seed.

This is huge motivation for Book and KD to go nuts tommorow. The fact that they're not even considered 3rd team All NBA is a disgrace.

KD only played 47 games . Nobody is making all NBA missing that many games.

Booker played only 53.

If they had done away with the center spot this year and just gone with three frontcourt spots ( like the all-star game), I'm assuming Tatum gets bumped down to 2nd team in favor of Joker.

With how they've moved to positionless basketball, will they get to the point of just eliminating positions period? Pros and cons?

They still led playoff teams and were great. Same with AD. It just dilutes the award to make such glaring omissions. Lebron missed basically the whole run that led to the Lakers making the playoffs. How's he on instead of Davis who took them there?

What's gonna be interesting is when they start enforcing the 65 game minimum for awards( I'm assuming that includes all-NBA teams). That would have eliminated Giannis,Butler, Steph,Lebron, and Dame this year.

Three guards all together who didn't male the playoffs made the All-NBA teams. Interesting.

Guys like Joker and Embiid are pretty far removed from the Center spot as far as how it's traditionally played, lumping them in under 'frontcourt' with the forward spot is better IMO, because then you avoid things like Joker not being on the first team. But as Tontoz said, they're taking positions out of the equation next year so the five highest votegetters will make up your first team, regardless of their 'position'.

You have it backwards. Celtics can now offer him 300 million. Now if they try to haggle and see how close they can come to offering "just" the regular max without pissing him off they could lose him but if they offer him the supermax there is no way he rejects that money just to see if he can score 30 somewhere else. With a little more advancement in his ball handling he might even average 30 here in Boston.

You can disagree with him making it but to be AllNBA after 20 seasons is impressive. The only real argument against him being there is the high number of missed games.

Lebron wasn't that big of a surprise considering he was the top All-Star vote getter and the Lakers made that great run.

Brunson not making it over Randle Lillard and Fox

Jimmy Butler going from missing the All-Star team to 2nd team is incredible especially as he had only made third in his career.

Interesting. The Heat dropped down in standing from when he didn't get voted an All-Star and still makes 2nd team
