For those of you who said to wait until the CNN Town Hall was finished before we should speak out against it, the harm has been done. It’s concluded. And now we are left in the wake of the extensive damage.

What specifically needs to be said is the impact last night had on sexual abuse survivors.

Last night, far more damage occurred than what is currently being discussed. Trump literally joked about his sexual assault verdict last night and we saw an entire audience respond with uproarious laughter.

When conservatives wonder why Carroll didn't come forward, it's because of incidents like the one that took place last night. Victims are often ridiculed. Called liars. And humiliated. And CNN knew that would happen and gave it a platform anyway.

Last night, the progress of survivors was set back by what feels like 20-30 years. Do you think jokes and laughter about one of the most horrendous experiences a woman can endure will propel us forward? Not a chance.

"Deplorable" is not a strong enough word for someone who jokes about or laughs at sexual abuse. They lack even a trace of empathy.

While our democracy suffered a blow last night, among many other things, let's not lose sight of the potential damage to accountability.

Should we have protested more, called out CNN more, or voiced our thoughts more? In this case I think CNN was hellbent on the glory. They knew it would be controversial and controversy sells.

CNN did the same exact thing before 2016. They aired ENTIRE rallies and gave Trump an enormous amount of airtime. In fact, then president Jeff Zucker apologized for it. They tried to atone.

And what did they do? They did it again. Only this time it was worse, because now we know Donald Trump isn’t just a bloviating reality star - he’s a former president who has literally tried to overthrow our own government.

I’m pissed because this outcome was inevitable. We warned CNN. We all did.

I hope there is accountability. I hope we stop watching CNN. I hope E. Jean Carroll considers filing NEW defamation charges and asking for double.

But what we cannot do is allow more normalization of this man.

Let’s channel our disgust. Let’s remind CNN why we won’t be watching.

CNN had a responsibility to halt the nonsense last night. They failed.

The entire program should have been cut off as soon as he began lying.

Networks from now on should only pre-record his remarks and evaluate whether airing it would be appropriate.

Trump, CNN, and the participants of the town hall are a disgrace to this country.
