For years we had low IQ casual fans yack non stop about everything Curry > LeBron because Curry was able to add Durant to his 73 win team.
Even had 3ball promote Curry all the way into the top 5.
Well now that narrative is officially DEAD like Russian Wagner troops.
Nobody will ever say this ever again. Even the most die hard Warrior / Steph fans won't be able to even mutter it outloud in any sports bar in San Fran.

To be fair, no serious person ever ranked Curry over LeBron.
What this series did was shut up the trolls who said Curry>LeBron just to troll and get a reaction.

With how klay and poole played, even peak MJ wasn't winning with that.
Give Lebron his credit, but this wasn't really on Curry. Swap casts and you'd see the same result.

Not unless Curry joins another team, convinces a younger superstar to play with him and switch for a new crop of players at the trade deadline. Curry's arc is what normal leaders go through. Build the team up to championship level, dominate for a while and then slowly fade away as the team ages. LeBron does not follow that arc because he bounces as soon as his team starts to decline. So it's an unfair comparison. Curry built a basement dweller into a dynasty. LeBron is playing NBA 2K23.

Could it have to do that Currys team was really good through the draft and there was no need to change it up, especially since Curry was not a GOAT caliber player to begin his career but in Monta Ellis debates?
This is the first time in his career that it looks like his team is not up for it and even then I think its overblown. Poole had a down year, he was great the other 3 seasons. They still have Wiggins. DiVicenzo. Draymond. They got a squad.

Curry and Lebron guy here…probably the only one on the entire site that likes both players. It was never a debate. Lebron is better but if curry would of won this series it would have been a debate.
Warriors steam rollin’ the Cavs after getting KD doesn’t really count because Durant pretty much neutralizes LeBron’s impact by replicating his statline. The only time that beta plays at his absolute best is vs Lebron or Kobe. Kd in a game vs Lebron is the only time where he takes his game to another level.
I did a long breakdown post about this years ago but this site deletes old post so it’s gone…. Pretty much the warriors getting durant is the equivalent of someone starting a fight then pulling out a gun. Kd was the gun. Once they got that it was no longer a fair fight… The 2nd and 3rd best player (kawhi wasn’t in terminator mode yet) merged on the same team to take down the best player. KD’s ability to play Lebron to a stalemate stat wise in a game is remarkable. The warriors signed the 1 piece of kryponite Lebron had in the entire league https://i.postimg.cc/G2SX8Xyv/IMG-9362.gif….Lebron would of got his ass beat everytime he went to the finals….it pains me to say it but it’s the truth. Kd and steph would of mercilessly beat his ass every….single…..time….. for what he did to them in the finals individually.
Curry and Lebron are both better than KD btw but I respect kd’s game in the warrior system where he gets to play 1 on 1 all game with no help defense….he doesn’t have to be a leader…..steph takes all the pressure off him in the regular season and carries the team…and he gets to steal all the credit in the finals from curry being warned down from dragging gsw through the western conference playoffs+reg season…he really had the perfect situation….. damn he’s an idiot for leaving :oldlol:
Edit I said it once and I’ll say it 1000x times more. That 3-1 collapse was so devastating, they would have never beat Lebron James in a series again without KD. He psychologically scarred them. But, lucky for them they went and got gun….

So the Curry v. Bran narrative died because Bran beat him with much better help (arguably the best player in the NBA in AD on his side & a deeper roster) despite playing worse than Steph in almost all of the games?
I'm sure you counted the 2017 & 2018 Finals the same for Steph.

Impossible to have a nuanced discussion on the topic on this site of all things, but this series didn't settle or change anything that wasn't already set. Neither Lebron or Steph had all-time series in general or based off their own respective histories, and neither are chiefly to credit or blame for the outcome. The single biggest issue over the 6 games is the Warriors didnt have an effective interior neutralizer for AD, which makes next series against the Nuggets very interesting

yea it wasnt a great series from curry but he got some pathetic help this series outside wiggins and dray, this series didnt prove anything. Lebron always had a better career because of longevity and a bit better peak too.
Warriors have the largest payroll, their talent on paper is fine but you're not winning a series when your next 2nd and 3rd option combine for less than 25ppg on like 45ts% and are hurting you defensively too. People on reddit are calling poole the worst player in the league lol.

Lakers had the best record in the West post-ASB with this new team, and that's with Lebron missing half the games.
Lakers were slight underdogs in the first 2 rounds and are a slight underdog in the WCF because they don't have HCA, but they're clearly the best overall team left in these POs. A healthy AD-Bran combo is still the best 1-2 in the league and they have the shooters & depth needed to win it all. Currently 4 Lakers are averaging 15+ ppg in the POs so this team is really good & you know it.

You guys are hypocrites for chastising Curry for playing with KD but then ignore Lebron playing with AD and a bunch of other All Star talents.

They went 16-7 post-ASB (57-win pace) with Lebron missing 13 games and with Dlo missing 9 as well. That's pretty damn good. They have the best defense in these POs and 5 guys averaging 10+ ppg. Lebron has been coasting for the most part and AD hasn't needed to score as much as usual and they're marching through the Western Conference like it's nothing.
