In 2020 Dwight Howard came down hard on Adebayo’s shot attempt. Both hands striked Bam’s shoulders effectively putting him out for the entire series.
For all the remaining NBA playoff teams, the lesson here is simple. Do not give Anthony Davis anything easy at the basket. Foul Anthony Davis hard every time like by contesting and come down on both his shoulders.
Once AD is out, winning the game becomes much easier. There you have it the strategy to beating the Lakers starts with literally beating Anthony Davis.

So just injure him. What a genius level thread.

Anthony Davis can not and will not survive a beating in a long 7 game playoff series. Bring in your biggest boys and and come down on Anthony Davis hard every time he catches the ball in the paint.

I don’t think Denver even needs to do anything deliberate at all.
If they simply play hard and make very hard plays ON THE BALL, Davis will wind up overestimating his pain as he always does, and not play to his full potential like he does against very small teams/lineups like the warriors had to play often.
Denver does not have to play small lineups.
Plus LeBron’s foot is not 100%
Denver in 5-6, barring some major change.

Half truth, Jokic will be guarding Davis, if he keeps hard fouling Davis, he will get fouled out. Although they make work for an entire series as a hard foul on Davis could put him out for the remainder of the playoffs.

This is actually a smart tactic used in the past 80s, 90s. NBA teams need to play Anthony Davis very physically. Take advantage of AD’s weakness his fragile body.

Dwight was such an important player for that team.
Shut jokic down in the WCFs and injured Bam in the Finals.

So you think they're going to allow Jordan Rules in today's NBA? They'll start throwing people out if they see this.
The type of personal fouls they had back then would be considered flagrant 2s today.

OP is right though.
Jokic is very strong and trained in MMA. He's not going to outright assault AD, but just like he did to Ayton he's going to be throwing elbows in the post and boxing out.
AD is going to get hurt in this series.

And all the Lakers have to do is fall hard on jokic's knee to tear his acl. Right? Right?
Horrendous thread.

AD is not Ayton. He's a drama king that's kind of bought into the narrative of him being a cry baby.
I still see a guy that can grab rebounds over anybody and insert his will. Also a guy with a very high defensive IQ.
I think people forget AD in college was a generational defensive big that happen to have really solid offensive fundamentals. When his shot leaves him he's still a terror team defense wise and switching on anyone.
Jokic will eat regardless but even an older Bron gets better as he plays the same team multiple times.
I think Denver wins the series but it won't because AD will wilt like Ayton.

You don’t make any sense. The best way to take Davis off his game is to beat him down as much as you can with big center bodies. Davis doesn’t like bumping and grinding. He’s even stated in numerous occasions how much he hates playing Center.
Teams should take advantage of his honest admission and jump into Davis as much as possible if they want to win. Just think of Davis like that Honda car in the bonus stage of a street fighter game, the more damage you can inflict the more points you can gain to help your cause.

Yea but refs aren't going to allow that to happen. Jokic will foul out as much as davis.
DeAndre Jordan 4 years ago could bump and be effective
Jeff Green isn't physical
Aaron Gordon doesn't have the length and lebrin will have a body on him.
Denver is balanced but they aren't going to out physical a lakers team.

The key to limiting anthony davis offensively is crowding his triple threat space. He struggles consistently passing out of double teams. It's the reason he will have 30 one game. 16 another.
Davis can have 16 points and be dominant help defense wise.

It doesn’t have to be Jokic. They have Thomas Bryant who could burn 6 fouls a game. Make those fouls hard and make them count. If AD pump fakes, bite jump and land on his shoulders to break the fall.

Man Nuggets are in more trouble than I thought if people are saying they have to basically play street ball to beat the Lakers.

Lol Davis scores off pick n pop, transition and face up jumpers. He doesn't drive nearly as much.
It's why he has games of 30 and then 16 the next.

The key to beating Denver is to Tonya Harding Jokic. Genius, I know.
I'm available, Laker's coaching staff.
