Netflix's Queen Cleopatra has the worst rating of all time

A big reason why it has such a shit rating is because they casted a black woman to play Cleopatra. The real Cleopatra was Greek/Persian. That's like casting a white guy to play MLK or a mexican woman to play Queen Elizabeth. You don't change history...

The crazy part is, the actress who plays Cleopatra pulled the racism card in response to the controversy that a black woman should not be playing Cleopatra. She's ****ing stupid. This has nothing to do with racism. Yes, Egypt is in Africa and there are many black people there, but was Cleopatra black? **** no.

Also, according to what I read, the actual production and writing was terrible. Netflix takes a fat L for this one

The more we know about DNA the more unfavorable it is for the "black pharaohs" theory. The Kushites and Nubians have DNA more in line with modern day middle eastern people than Sub Saharan Africans. Modern day black African regions possess very little if any of the same haplogroups that have been found in Kushite and Nubian genetic material. And the few that do are in Ethiopia and other parts of Northern Africa where blood lines are heavily mixed. Most of their bloodlines are found in North Africa and Asia.

So either you have to believe that most of the highly ambitious and intelligent blacks were all wiped out, or that the black Egypt theory is very suspect. Besides, even if true, the Kushites and Nubians only controlled Egypt for a few decades in the thousands of years the Egyptian civilization existed.

Blacks have significant biological advantages over other races so there's no need to make up other stuff

I don't think race is the problem nor should it be. Jesus was often portrayed by the wrong race as well in movies. It's not a problem for historical figures whom most people have no idea/wrong idea what they really look like. For example, if you cast Andre The Giant as Goliath from the bible, there would be no problem despite them not the same ethnicity.

Everything about the series just sucked, and the wrong race just topped it off.
