Short answer: basketball IQ

Thought this video helps make it clear how Butler is effective.

Long answer: He’s meticulously studied Lebron’s playoff performances.

they gave him a menu with no price tag and everyone seems to be nervous about him getting into a fight with the chef

Part of why Butler should be an MVP is I think he spends the regular getting his undrafted and low level guys reps and develop's until the playoffs come along. Jimmy is basically asst.player coach at this point

Got the killer instinct...

And not the anti-clutch gene

Because the games matter and he’s hyper competitive and plays well on both ends of the court. Raises his game in the playoffs because he’s Jordan’s illegitimate son.

Butler was right and the rest of the league was wrong.

No, it wasn't Butler.

It actually was KAT, Embiid, Simmons, Wade etc.

That's crazy to think about.

Only has 2 playoff runs > 23ppg.

His playoff greatness is a recent phenomena.

LeBron has been raising his game in the playoffs for 15 years

Look at all the shook Bronies. Once they start hating a player, you know that player is a threat to their hero.

Oh and as if its ppg that defines Jimmy Butler. But in Bronie world, stattzzz is everything lol

The real question is why isn't he this good during the regular season. And the answer is simple - he can be as good as he wants to be, the occasion is how he decides:pimp:

He's always been a very efficient scorer and great at drawing fouls, but he was never asked to carry as high of an usage despite his skillset. Once Dragic got injured in the 2020 Finals it unleashed him out of necessity, and they haven't looked back.

What you see now is a culmination of hard work put in the gym by Butler when no one is around. It’s surprising to some but not to Jimmy or those around him. He’s been that guy since his Chicago days locking up LeBron as a youngin. It’s a shame we’re stuck with LeBron’s corpse instead of Jimmy. Would’ve been a great successor to Bryant.

he has a shit attitude about the regular season like SHAQ...

they only want to play in the playoffs.

That makes Jimmy a very expensive commodity

Booyah, spot on. Those guys want to look good off-court, Buckets is focused on winning.

He takes good care of the ball, he doesn't turn it over much. That's a very important skill in the playoffs when you are the ball handler of the team. Every possession matters.
