How do you feel about Rui Hachimura and Jared Vanderbilt?

I was thinking if Lakers want Kyrie, we could do some package that gets use those two.

Draft the best stretch big that can actually play perimeter D as well.

Brook Lopez and Reaves are ideal fits on the Mavs. But I dont know that they have cap space to sign either guy.

They should absolutely, positively NOT bring back Kyrie Irving. He BLATANTLY treats every organization he plays for like dirt, except for the final half a season before each contract. And he’s a consistent loser on the court without Lebron. If the Mavs bring him back it tells me theyre not a serious franchise.

Realistically tho I dont see a good path for them regardless, given their lack of options to maneuver.

There is no such thing in this draft unless you have the first pick.

I think it would be smart to trade Iriving, even for Ayton. I just don't see this team working in the long run with Kyrie. But yes, get a center that plays defense. Get 3d guys and we are all good.

I think they have to sign and trade Kyrie though.

I do agree they shouldn't want him, it was a horrible trade in the first place. That's why I think sign and trade to Lebron makes sense. Lebron is probably the only guy who can keep that loon in check, though I wouldn't be surprised if Kyrie was out of the league for mental health reasons in 2-3 seasons. I think he might be schizotypal.

Difficult to do much of note with Hardaway and Bertans on the books for roughly 35 million combined next year.

Maybe they could dump one of those guys to a team like the Spurs that has a ton of cap space with a couple 2nd rounders or something.

Maybe could dump another one in an Irving for Ayton deal that I think makes a lot of sense for both teams.

Luka/Ayton/Bullock/Green/Maxi/10th Pick with a decent amount of cap has the potential to be a roster that at least makes sense.

You can't build around Luka with guys who need the ball and/or play no defense. They need to get tougher, and find guys who can defend and shoot.

I would put Brook Lopez at the top of their wish list, he alone would make them an instant contender IMO. Spaces the court on offense, defends the paint and rebounds on the other end.

Problem is I don't trust the Mavs GM Nico Harrison as far as I could throw him.

Brook would be amazing, but I can't imagine the Bucks don't keep him.

Ayton is trash. Mavs can get Anthony Davis for Kyrie and the 10th pick.

No rim protection.

Personally I think they should target Capella or Poetl.

Ayton is good, but too much of a Zingis situation complaining of touches and being soft.

I highly doubt that.

I actually think Ayton fits better and is better defensively. Nobody, other than the best players...which we can't get, is going to be perfect. But...yea....you'd want to add 2011 Tyson Chandler and a bunch of 3/D role players and a secondary shot creator.

The truly sad thing, is that we had everything other than the center with Brunson/DFS/Widdie...just needed the center. Now, we basically need 3 needle moving players just to get back to slightly worse level of a roster than we had in 22.

The true sad thing is this could’ve been the Mavs core for a decade had Luka set his ego aside and Mavs not trade away their depth for Kyrie.

Brunson
Dinwiddle | Hardaway Jr
Doncic
Finney-Smith
Porzingus

Might as well try. Lakers will want to reunite Kyrie with LeBron after this season. Mavs have all the leverage since they’re the only team that can facilitate the sign and trade to make it happen.

I'm not sure what Luka has to do with KP being incapable of staying on the court since his injury...and while I think Brunson left in part because of playing with Luka...he definitely would have stayed if Cuban had just paid the man his extension. At worst, we'd be sitting on Brunson with him having maybe the best contract in the league. Not giving Brunson what he wanted two years ago to chase cap space again was a huge blunder and set this team back years.

I also don't love having Widdie and Hardaway. Would have needed to move one of them.

The current roster doesn't have much. Luka/Green/Maxi/Bullock are the only guys on the roster I'd want to keep....yes, we have the 10th pick and some cap, but the Mavs should be pretty embarrassed this is the team they have currently in place heading into year 6 with Luka. Especially since we weren't good his first year.

He's entering his absolute prime/peak for the next 5 or so years and the current roster around him isn't close to what others have. Almost all of that is on the Mavs, not Luka. At least with Dirk he got one elite roster in 2003 right as he was entering the same stretch. Luka hasn't sniffed a team as good as the 03 Mavs were....and if he has to suffer with middling help his peak/prime in terms of title contention, something needs to change. When you get Dirk and then Luka...you have to do more to surround them with legit help.

Trading kyrie will surely benefit the mavs in the long run.

It’s been one bad move after another for these clowns, but I don’t think that line-up is a contender. PorzingAss is ass. Hardaway is a chucker who doesn’t defend and plays aggressively dumb basketball.

The Mavs are a prime example of the fundamental truth that a homeless guy on the street who talks to trash cans could do just as well as at Least half of the GMs in the NBA

luka needs rebounding bigs and shooting and defensive wings just like a young lebron

they dont need another 1-dimensional primary ballhandler like kyrie
