The six-game Lakers-Warriors series averaged 7.8 million viewers across ABC, ESPN and TNT to make it the most-watched semifinal series since Bulls-Knicks averaged 11.1 million over five games on NBC and TNT in 1996, according to Sports Media Watch.

Serious question. Will the OP ever pay taxes on his EDD unemployment income?

I know it upsets you that LeBron is still the face of this league at 38.

Nah. No series is gonna draw like Lakers-Warriors or Lakers-Celtics. Ratings need the casual fan interest and Lebron/Curry are both household names with huge fanbases, and of course the Lakers/Celtics always draws because of the legacy of those franchises and rivalry. The best matchup from a 'basketball' standpoint is probably Miami/Denver, but there are no names on either roster to draw in the casual.

Nah let's not confuse the face of the league with the face in your jerkoff sessions.

It's a shame considering how good Jokic is. Guess big man really aren't marketable, especially if you are not an athletic freak.

Doubtful. Curry and Lebron are the league’s most marketable assets.

How do you market this

Pretty much the same with Duncan's Spurs. If I recall the 2005 series between the Spurs and Pistons didn't draw either, but that was the 'purist' matchup at the time. The NBA makes a point to market flash, and Jokic is the anti-thesis of that. The only way a matchup against him draws is if there is someone marketable to the everyday viewer on the other side ( which would give the NBA a great opportunity to showcase Joker, but he's not a ESPN highlight poster boy sooo...)

To be honest the first 4 games of that '05 series was a snooze fest, every game was a blowout. I remember Phil Jackson announcing he was coming back to the Lakers during the Finals got more attention than the actual series. Things picked up in game 5 though when Horry hit that clutch shot.

Probably not but it'd be a riveting series for real fans.

And the superstar narratives are super interesting. What would a Butler ring do for his legacy... he'd be so hard to judge historically. Jokic winning but Murray winning FMVP... what does that mean.

Fun series

Hell no. Lakers are prime time TV. Also, Bron is a super star all by himself.

If Lakers lose the Nuggets series, I'm not even watching the rest of the playoffs. Shit will be boring asf. Could care less who wins at that point. Will watch again next season when entertaining teams/players back in the mix.

Shit about to be the Spurs low ratings Finals all over again. :oldlol::roll:

Who cares, I'm really enjoying watching teams, that don't have Luka on them, for the first time in years.

The NBA is healing as the King is succumbing to old age and withering.

This finals is for the pure basketball purists that want to see the two best players on the planet go head to head

Casuals that only care about LeBron and the Warriors can gtfo

The league wanted LA to win. Silver and Disney CEO Bob Iger were Courtside in this game. Two total snakes.

The refs were giving a massive advantage to the Lakers to win Game 3. Before the end of the game free throws when the Nuggets already iced it, the disparity was like 29 to 10.

The 3rdQ saw Jokic foul out and have to sit most of the quarter. Miraculously, the Denver role players produced under a big FTA deficit. That was the difference in the game and why KCP got the chain in the locker room after the game.
