He is playing in the French league.
He averaged 6.5 points (2FG: 37.3%, 3FG: 30.3%), 3.8 rebounds, and 5.5 PIR in 13 EuroLeague games last season. So Far he is dominating an inferior league like the French league.
In his home country of France, Wembanyama played for Boulogne-Levallois Metropolitans 92 in LNB Pro A, the top level of basketball in the country. In 33 games during his 2022-23 season, he averaged: 21.6 points per game. 10.5 rebounds per game.

Probably to avoid getting injured by 7ft+ 290-310lb grown azz men, competing physically at the highest level outside the NBA.

That means it is possible that in a summer party in the NBA they leave him KO ... like Chet Holmgren.
I am amazed at the publicity given to a guy who has proven practically nothing in Europe and seems to be the Second Coming.
Luka Doncic at the age of 18 dominated the Euroleague and NBA analysts did not take him into account, when they did not dismiss him and despise him.
He smells singe to me, not only because he looks like a fragile player, but because with his physical build, he probably has the same problems as Rudy Gobert on defense.
I think that last year he inflated to the stratosphere and he chose to play in a minor league so as not to lower his value.
If instead of 20 points per game in a mediocre league, he scores 10 in a league that is much more similar to the NBA in terms of professionalism, surely he would not be the number one pick in the draft.

Valid point from OP, it is tough to say how well Wemby will do against NBA players

Because he wasn't anywhere near ready to play in the Euroleague.
He looked like what he was in his Euroleague clips: a kid that was overmatched physically and in the speed of the game.
That's what makes the hype train so absurd, when compared to Luka, who at the same age won FMVP in Euroleague.
What makes Wemby this exciting prospect and not Luka to american media? His skin color?

You don't choose to play in Euroleague. European clubstructure is totally different from the US.
The club he signed for missed the qualification for Euroleague.
You get the chance to participate or playing qualifying rounds based on your results in the mediocre league. European players basically play the domestic(mediocre league) all year round parallel to the Euroleague.

Victor Wembanyama could have stayed in a Euroleague team, ASVEL, where Tony Parker played in his day, but he preferred to go to one where he would only play one game a week and, obviously, at a lower level.
Tony Parker himself recently said that Wemby hasn't improved at all this year, and no wonder.
He's going to make it to the NBA without ever playing really competitive basketball.
If I'm not mistaken, the Euroleague is similar to the soccer Champions League, a continental league where the best teams from each country play.
Wemby, he could have signed for any team he wanted, literally any powerful team in Europe would have kept him for even one year, just because of the type of prospect he seemed to be.

Yeah.
Scouts made a huge mistake with Luka, not understanding the level of competition in the Euroleague and now they're making the reverse mistake, not understanding how low level the french league is.
The french league has one Euroleague team, Monaco, which would be the equivalent of an NBA team. The rest of the teams would vary in competition from summer league teams to g-league teams.
Wembys team did finish second and I believe Wemby did finish first in points, rebounds and blocks, but also in minutes.
I mean, that might be good, but his competition are completely unknown americans.
All we really know is that he did really good at a level, that I would put at better than college, but nowhere near the NBA.

Yo I’m not hating but I’m rolling like 75+% on bs predictions lately. The shit im pulling out of my ass is cash money.
As I posted here when I first saw dude, I am worried about how dude moves and his foot planting. He takes really long awkward steps especially on drives and I feel like physically his legs are going to give fast. Someone needs to tell him there is no reason to go bounding thru the lane at 7’5 when some guy could bump your lanky ass leg and snap it off.
He’s got too much potential to lose it trying to be saucy. He needs to be moving like that on d but end up with little jumps or hands up. On o he should just work on “box moves,” as in stuff he could pull off in a phone booth, figuratively ( for 7’5 ppl.) Makes no sense to me to play like a sf just cuz you can when you could catch the ball and cook anyone without even putting it on the floor prol.
Check out how he falls at around 20 sec after second block. That’s with no contact. That’s what scares me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L33JKYc1ZKA
