JJ Redick shared his opinion on AD after the loss to Denver:
"No matter how much we try to make Anthony Davis into this alpha, that's not who he is. He's a fantastic basketball player, an All-NBA player, an All-Defensive player, he's not an alpha."
“No matter how hard we try to spin the narrative. That is not who he is. He is awesome but that is not who he is,” Redick said. “The fact that he is not the best player on the Lakers, that speaks more to LeBron not being human than anything else.”

These "alpha" terms are dumb, but yeah - he isn't a guy that can lead your team as the main playmaker on the court.
He is the ultimate utility type guy. Super valuable, and as important to any team - but just not the guy that is going to win as your focal point. He is a big with little ability to create for himself, have a reliable go to, etc. He has a nice jumpshot, and finishes garbage type points near the ring like every big man should do. He is KG 2.0.
He isn't Dirk, Barkley, Malone, McHale, etc. He is the swiss army knife.

Ummmm
No AD and he's literally lottery.
AD would take this squad further than LeFraud would , absolutely no doubt.

Nah. He's not that guy. For the Lakers to move forward after Bron one of their young guys would need to take the leap. AD is like KAT.

We all know he's not an alpha. He's a weak-minded beta bitch.
Like OP.
And without him, LeShrivel can't even make the playoffs.

He is not capable of chaining two good games and in the decisive moments he hides.
You just have to see the laziness with which he ended his time with the Pelicans. He is a second line superstar who in elimination matches becomes a role player.
In the bubble he played his best basketball with LeBron in his prime, a couple of centers that did his dirty work and a team that worked like a roller.

you mean he's not blind, and he doesn't talk himself into injuries because he knows when others are just belligerent

White power structure chooses "alphas" not players themselves.
That's why Curry wasn't winning that many playoffs series until White power structure decided to elevate him in 2015. They got message to elevate him because a white owners racist tapes were leaked to the press at the start of Clippers/Warriors series. It was a threat to White power structure to elevate Curry or have bad things happen to their white employers and employees.
Notice similar bad things have happened to white power structure this season. White owner Robert Sarver was forced out. A bunch of white coaches were fired in off season or this season (former champions like Vogel, Nurse, Budenholzer). One white coach's brother died in a car accident. It's message from God to a let a team the white power structure doesn't like such as Nuggets or Celtics win championship.

AD is like KAT.
This is one of the worst posts I've ever read on ISH, and that's saying a lot.

AD was literally a 1a/1b in 2020. He led the Lakers in scoring during the regular season and playoffs on route to a chip. He brought this team back into playoff contention this year while LeBron was injured.
In 20 games without LeBron this season, he put up 28/14/2/1/2 on 62% TS%. AD being an alpha doesn't necessitate him being as good as LeBron.

As Plowking said, he's not the best at creating offense for himself or his team. He's neither a good shooter nor a strong post-up threat; he can't handle the ball and penetrate like Giannis. What he excels at is playing off-the-ball as a screener, roller, and cutter. His verticality allows him to dominate above the rim better than anyone in NBA history.
But those shortcomings don't mean he can't be an "alpha" or whatever that means. There's no fixed blueprint or archetype for what a team's best player must be. Pair AD with a strong perimeter creator and you'd get excellent results.
AD is incredible. lakers just lost to a team with better chemistry and with two players playing at a very high level. some of the shots murray and jokic hit were unreal.
that was the most competitive sweep I've ever seen
d'angelo russell was dogshit. easy series win if they got anything from that position.
at least AD anchored the best defense in the league even when he was missing his shots

JJ Redick is a highly paid puppet that spouts nonsense to generate revenue. I will copy and past this comment in any thread that mentions "his" opinions.

Underrated comment.
