They're both in the same fringe top 10 all time tier, but I'd still give the very slight edge to Kobe. People like to pretend longevity doesn't matter now due to LeBron, but Curry still trails Kobe substantially in career totals despite being 35 years old. Career points, all-star selections, All-NBA nods, Kobe has a massive advantage over him, which should matter in all time discussions.

In previous eras, the point guard brought the ball past halfcourt and then gave it up - offenses were initiated by the PG passing the ball to the wing or post.

That's changed obviously and point guards are supposed to make all the plays in today's high-screen-roll format and wide open spacing.

So if transported prime Kobe to this era and told him:

"Hey Kobe - the game's changed and we need you to bring the ball up and KEEP IT - we need you to make all the plays and do whatever you want".

Kobe would average 40/10 in this scenario - his era restricted his game compared to today... Kobe was a fantastic ball-handler that didn't need any passing help to win

And Kobe would be a 40% three-point shooter because he would have a sleeping bag in the gym during the summer - he would never leave until he mastered today's 3-point format... 2000 makes per day or some ridiculous shit like that
