White ran straight from throwing it in to under the basket with no box out or anyone even looking his way.

Has a team ever had a Finals trip/title snatched at literally the final tenth of a second like that? I've never seen anything like that, only Fisher's .4 shot compares.

Michael Coopers reaction says it all

they were the defending champions, and they won the next two.

Crazy shot for sure, but Houston had 3-1 series lead before that shot went in. Fisher's 0.4 shot happened when the series was tied 2-2 I believe. Miami was literally 0.1 seconds away from making the finals. :lol

Now they’re saying it’s rigged because the refs put too much time on the clock after the review

Can anyone just lose anymore?

They talked about Strus having to pay attention to white before the inbound on the broadcast as well. He lost him immediately lol. Back turned to him from the start which allowed him to cut to the basket unimpeded.

Yeah that's bullshit. The Heat did get hosed on bad calls all game but that wasn't one of them.

They didn't want Tatum to get the ball. The ball just bounced toward the direction White was heading.

It was gambled either way. Let Tatum take the shot or make sure he doesn't and let someone else beat them. Someone else beat them at the tip in.

I thought it was a terrible shot as it happened, but Smart essentially deserves a Kobe assist for that one. The Heat did a terrible job on the play though. Strus and Butler are both out of the play, which leaves both White and Tatum wide open for the put-back. Bam's the only one who boxed out.

Doesn't compare cuz fisher's shot was nuts and there's no way he really got it off. This was just an all time lapse. Many lapses. Those wild 3s were like... 'we can't do anything so I got an inch of space jack it!!', esp that second one coming down only losing by 1. Watching dude stand there, bounce the ball, then brick the 3, tho, that's about as giffy as those two heat dudes fighting for the ball out of bounds.

That was just bad quality basketball. I understand that people say the NBA has more talent, and in some ways it does, esp at 'floor level,' but the discipline is a joke. They should have removed both teams from the playoffs and just awarded denver the trophy.

Edit:

it was indeed crazy that he got that shot up and made it tippable. BUT... should not have happened. Reminds me of the old saying "Someone's gotta win..."

whats the evidence for it being 3.0 seconds?

ofc people will complain when decisions lack elementary logic

You could argue that they tried to give the Cs as much time as possible to win the game, but then you have to wonder if the refs are in on this and bet on the spread, or the point total and were trying to get it to OT, or if the league pays them to make games as close as possible down the stretch.

Jay King: From Celtics PR: Derrick White’s buzzer-beater tonight was the second in NBA history by a player whose team was facing elimination and trailing at the time of the shot (https://*********.com/social/). The other? Michael Jordan over Craig Ehlo against the Cavaliers in the 1989 first round.

I figured this was extraordinarily rare. And Jordan’s was just in the first round, this was with a trip to the Finals AND a potential 3-0 comeback in the balance :lol

When they reviewed Jimmy's shot to see if it was a three they also looked at the EXACT time the foul actually occured.

Biggest take away for me was Butler getting caught up in the moment ball watching like a fan. Illsmak used the exact term I said on another board....lapse.

Just a lapse in concentration at the BIGGEST moment.

Same with Bam grabbing the rim and costing his team what was it 3 or 4 points?

Hubie Brown is one of my alltime favorite announcers/commentators.

The dude is like 90 years old and still sharp.
And has a personality like the nicca that trained Rocky x cool white grandpa.

Anyone who doesn’t love Hubie Brown … I wanna fight you. today.
