The reason we’ve had an exceptional immigration policy to this point is due solely to the nature of our economy. It was never an act of charity.

America has always been a place with a HUGE availability of blue collar work, not to mention a massive military complex. Thus she welcomed pretty much as many immigrants as were willing to show up, have a kid, and pick up a shovel.

Emerging technology is going to change that dynamic VERY rapidly in the coming years, and there is just no economic value to be had anymore in accepting people based exclusively on their ability to procreate.

It's funny how the same ilk of people argue for one thing because it's in the constitution, while not caring for another. Goes both ways. most legal immigrants from latin countries are disgusted by the way illegals are treated. getting legal citizenship in this nation is not a trivial task, for most people it requires a ton of time and effort... and most of the people who gave that time and effort are pissed off by the fact that others are allowed to break the rules with virtually zero consequence.
