Someone correct me if Im wrong on that but Im pretty sure.
Despite calls for both sides clearly worthy of being challenged early on.
What is the logic of “saving” a challenge? Can someone explain this to me?
A possession or points have equal value at any time in the game. Coaches should be using challenges on the first one theyre confident theyll win. Otherwise they may not even get an opportunity and you just throw away 2 or 3 points.
It seems like they care more about the optics of not being out of a challenge if they need one later. But if you increase your points early the game is less likely to be close and turn on a call late. It’s literaly the same effect any time you use them.
If you dont use them when you have a chance it can literally cost the game.
Am I wrong??

The most egregious one by far was Spo not challenging Bam fouling Jokic on a 3 in the 3rd quarter. In retrospect, Malone should've challenged the non call on what looked like a goaltend in the 4th.
Spo likes to save them for as close to the last play as possible. Idk why Malone didn’t though.

You are not wrong but not right either. 3 points being 3 points, sure. You are right. But the idea of using it later is your team has time to make a bigger lead or catch up. With the game winding down, the challenge comes in as extra boost in the finish. So I get that part. As for me, I'd use my challenge midgame when my team is on a run and gets a bad whistle. I'd use the challenge to keep the momentum. When I'm down by 9 or 12, a challenge is not really useful.

At least another 2-3 plays were challenge-consideration tonight.
Lots of opportunities available, just to ultimately wind up taking none of them…
gotta save it for the late game BS
I dont blame them. many games were decided this season on a last second mistake from the refs.

Is there a cannot challenge rule under 1-2 minutes or something? Wonder why teams dont use it up on every game.

Could Malone challenge the kick out by Butler after he stepped on the line? Don't know the rules for challenges.

Yes, last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter.
Still, even they could use challenges before the last 2 minutes, if the chance of call being overturned is low, why wasting a precious timeout especially in close games?

It’s because Malone is not a good coach he just has jokic. Eveyone knows that. It’s only 6 good coaches in the league. Spols,Kerr,Lue,Pop, Ham, and vogul.
Budenholzer, nurse, willie green, and Atkinson are close to cracking into good coach status
Everyone else is replaceable

I’ll take Malone over Bud. Im sure hes a great guy but I was very unimpressed with Bud’s Bucks tenure.

Malone is a front running loser and at the 1st sign of adversity (losing 1 home playoff game) starts pointing fingers and blaming people publicly.
Give me bud…he’d never do that….never has yet
Malone is Still better than doc btw

It’s likely mostly because an unsuccessful challenge costs a time out. Better to take that chance when your guys are gassed.
The phantom foul on Jokic’s three would likely have been upheld. There was contact down low as Jokić came down.
Can you challenge a no call on a goaltending when play does not stop? I don’t know the answer to this. (edit: I looked it up. You can’t challenge any no-call. A goaltending call can be challenged, but not in the last two minutes. Since this was a no-call, not challengable).

Seems like it is best to save when the game is as close as possible.
