AAU ball fans in shambles. RealGM in shambles "b-b-but no one wants to watch defense and team play"
Facts: People instinctively like to watch hard working teams, good defense teams, team play.

With two games in the books the 2023 NBA Finals are pulling mammoth numbers. Game 1 averaged 11.5M viewers, which grew in Game 2 to 11.9M. Obviously people really care about this series, as it’s pulling almost equal numbers to the 2022 Finals, which featured much larger markets with the Warriors and Celtics.
Why is the media and the NBA not embracing this? Moving away from the star based agenda and back to team based promotion.

People wanna see, “who’s gonna show out in the Finals with a Lebronesque performance?”
“Who’s gonna make Lebron proud?”
It’s very compelling.

Not like the NBA isn't promoting Jokič vs Butler as a marquee matchup.

Because 95% on their attention is spent on a select few teams and players, none of which are in this series. Jokers game is hard to market on a league that's spent 50 years highlighting the high wire styles of Dr.J/MJ/Vince/Kobe/Lebron etc etc etc, and Butler despite being a consistent top 10-15 guy for the last half decade is relatively obscure outside the hardcore fanbase. I mean I read somewhere that there are some media covering the finals who are just seeing Jokic for the first time this playoff run, despite the fact that the guy has one 2 of the last 3 MVPs and easily could have won this years. Tell you everything you need to know, really...
The NBA needs to figure this out. Lebron, Steph and KD will be gone in 5 years. Zion isn't panning out, Ja is flashing 'toy' guns, Tatum doesn't have the charisma or marketable game. Other American stars like Kawhi and Dame are also getting older and were never heavily used in marketing to begin with. Joker, Luka, Giannis, Embiid are basically 4 of the top 5 for the foreseeable future, all coming into or directly in their primes, and Wenbayama on the horizon.

What NBA misunderstands because they're dumb and woke is that teamwork and hard work is something all people, all over the world, relate to instinctively. It's basically why we even invented sports, to give us as tribal people, a non-violent way to work together in make believe war.
Then because we're humans we also like people who can sing and dance and paint, that's the artistic part.
When sports is good, it is both tribal and artistic.
The NBA has moved away from the tribal since the 90s and now exclusively almost into the artistic, while neglecting the tribal.
You don't need to market Jimmy Butler or Jokic because people get it at at an instinctual school yard level. We've all been in the situation of Jokic and Butler or his teammates.

Yeah, they need to get rid of Silver.
