idk how good the movie can be... but there were plenty of side characters in the first film to make for a good story here, and Michael Mann directing gives me faith.

Chris (Val Kilmer & rumored Austin Butler) did end up getting away in the 1995 story... I would not mind a follow up to that... does he go back for Ashley Judd (Charlene)?

Vincent Hannah (Al Pacino) was actually a coke-head in the 1995 story, that's why he acted the way he did... it wasn't shown in the film though.

Recasting Al Pacino is a dangerous move and could ruin things... this is where I start to lose faith in this prequel/sequel.

Supposedly John Voight's character is a big player in the prequel

without the original cast it just won't have the same charm. this should've been done twenty years ago or left alone.

Very interesting. Loved the first but wouldn't care too much if Heat 2 doesn't deliver. Generally these kind of things suck. Keen on seeing it though.

Michael Mann is one of the most underrated directors in Hollywood... Heat is one of the greatest crime films of all time, and Last of the Mohicans, Insider, Collateral, and especially Miami Vice are not receiving the respect they deserve IMO.

That said, there should not be a sequel to Heat. The characters dont need backstorys and giving them backstories ~30 years later feels like another cheap cash grab for an industry that is capable of little else these days.

I like the soundtrack in his movies. Both Heat & Collateral have great music.

This movie was pure garbage.... I don't get it.

it had been 6 years since Michael Mann's last film (Public Enemies 2009)... and this is the crap he finally gives us?

Hope he does better with his next film: Ferrari
