“Karl Malone choke in the 1997 nba finals, but he played great in the 1998 nba finals not his fault Hornacek and Stockton under performed in the finals by averaging 10 ppg and 9 ppg respectively. The 1990’s Jazz biggest problem they had a cheap owner after Losing in the nba finals. They failed to give Malone some help, and that’s the reason the Young Portland Trailblazers defeated them in the 1999 NBA playoffs.

Malone was so good.

Fast in the open floor, great shooter with basically 3 point range. Huge range of moves, could face up and could back you down.

Good defender, great rebounder, more than good enough passer.

He'd be a beast today in a small ball setting.

Why did you have a quote mark and no unquote mark?

In the finals, 1998 karl malone played against the bulls in the 1998 finals and in that finals, stockton and hornacek, the 1998 version of them, did not do well in the finals.

the compacted schedule because of the lockout was the main reason they lost. Too much for the old guys. Prioritizing signing Horny's bad knees over Shandon Anderson hurt as well. It's too bad the Lakers didn't have to go through the Jazz that year

the career 27% 3 point shooter basically had 3 point range? You forgot his great hands, strength and conditioning

Here is Karl Malone shooting splits in the 1998 playoffs by range:

https://www.nba.com/stats/players/shooting?CF=PLAYER_NAME*E*Karl%20Malone&DistanceRange=5ft%20Range&Season=1997-98

42% from 15-19ft (6 attempts) and 50% from 20-24ft. In 1997 is was the same 42% and 50%.

In comparison Dirk in 2000 shot 54% from 15-19ft.

I think it's fair to assume his touch could have easily adjusted to corner 3s.

He probably could have hit 3's if he'd worked on it enough but the numbers certainly don't indicate he basically had 3 point range.

It's true. I don't remember that Jazz roster changing that much throughout the years. That's cause Stockton and Malone were just that good and the only real competition out West probably just came from the Rockets and Seattle.

He had better range than MJ in 1998, so depends on if you think MJ had range.

Hitting open 3s is not difficult, we've seen big after big learn it.

we've seen many never be that good at it. Sloan would have benched him if he was clanking 3's like Cousins

'98 Jazz were a truly great tream. The Bulls' '98 ring is one of the best of all time.
