View Full Version : If you couldn't tell apart AI from human posters -- would you still post?

Just curious... seemingly every week we are getting threads of AI advancements (some good and some bad). At some point there will be someone creative enough to make AI chat bots c personality -- maybe it already exists i don't know. But if and when the day comes to this forum, would you have an issue conversing with a bot versus a human?

yes, this forum has had bots. they could just be a script, not necessarily AI but it's not like we're new to having posters pretending to be humans. it's par for the course given that the league this forum most adores is headed by a humanoid (Adam Silver).

Naw. It would be the same for gaming. Right now, bots playing against you are obvious but when it ever gets to the point I can't tell the difference between live people and bots in MP games, I'm just switching to RPGs and my gaming will decline dramatically.

I've thought about this recently as well, but as long as someone has a join date prior to, say, 2020, you can pretty safely assume it's a person.

But yeah, as far as the government deploying artificial e-humans to various websites and social media just to keep people occupied conversing with bots, I wouldnt doubt they are/will do it for a second.

Altho one thing I think AI's struggle with still is humor. To my knowledge AI doesnt really have the ability to replicate comedy naturally, probably because humor is more of an emotional creation/response and computers cant analyze how someone's emotions will be affected. That's something uniquely biological because we base it off our own ability to feel emotion, which computers do not have. They're purely able to provide knowledge and information, albeit with an increasingly data-driven ability to replicate the 'way' a human types or speaks. But I dont think they have any capability to anticipate what will make people laugh, in part because that's often very audience specific, and also because it's rooted in emotional intuition they cant access.

We already have had bots on here for many many years. Just look at the political forum - ConservativeBots have been running rampant.

Anyway, I'd probably stop posting. The internet has become cancer. I swear to god. Everyone outraged about something, spreading bullshit everywhere, expecting everyone else to care about some self absorbed asshole who is completely irrelevant to their real lives, sheep willingly trying to divide society for their masters, mass manipulation, surveillance, people being literally forced to put personal information on platforms that put them at risk etc etc.

It honestly feels like a race to the bottom for our species sometimes.

I probably wouldn't, since it would feel like a waste of time.

What's sad is that one day a bot is going to appear out of nowhere and overtake Lebron23 and his mission of being the first ISH member with 100,000 posts. Though at the current pace, Axe is set to reach 100,000 posts before Louie by around 3 years. Making Lebron23 3rd. Which will be crushing for him.

Sure enough, he comes here just to mention multiple usernames in his post once again. :oldlol:

Well think about it this way. We already have humans conversing like bots. Yet we still post.

I don't foresee a problem.
