Warriors are sending Jordan Poole, a protected first-round pick in 2030 and a second-rounder in 2027 to the Wizards for Chris Paul, league sources said.

What's really happening here:

* Warriors have realized that the relationship between Poole and Draymond cannot be patched up. The team morale and cohesion depends on dropping one of them.

* Warriors want to ditch their massive contract with Poole

Other stuff
* Steph Curry and Chris Paul haven't always been on great terms in the past.
* Warriors are handing away part of their future by giving away top picks in the future for someone in Chris Paul who may not last more than a year or two.
* Warriors may possibly deal Paul to the Clippers or someone else since he doesn't make a natural fit on the Warriors

Too bad the warriors are not the same dynasty they were once anymore.

Getting rid of Poole is a giant win..

If they can land a few minimum contract guys warriors should be fine for another season or two..

Both teams win. CP is obviously not going to be a part of the long term plans for the Wiz and they get a guy who was broken with GS but has talent and could potentially right the ship with a change of scenery. I could see Poole scoring like 22-23 a game if things go right. And with KP and Beal gone they'll still be the worst team in the league and look nice for the top pick next year.

It is so Wizards to tank the year after the Wemby sweepstakes.

Warriors made the wrong decision with Poole and Draymond. Yes Poole will probably be a better player in the future, but the future does not bode well with the assets they have.

He is too inconsistent and immature for the narrow window GS has.

The ideal thing is if Steve Kerr and Myers handled the conflict between Poole and Draymond at that time.

Since we don't have time machines, this is the next best solution.

There is no way a professional organization handles that fight the way the Warriors did. I'm still dumbfounded that they just thought Poole would come around after getting decked and nothing really happening to Draymond.

In the short-term this helps the Warriors, frees up $30M the year after, once Paul's contract runs out. There are some good free agents next year- Siakam and Davis (if he rejects his option) and many others.

Team cohesion was the problem this year; same personnel as when they won. Perhaps they can do it next year without the bad blood. They will need a big man or two- and I somehow doubt the front office is up to the task of doing something so basic.

Going to be weird seeing Curry coming off the bench. Good chance for 6moty award.

Seems like an easy way to get rid of a bad contract. CP3 is there for 1 year. Next season Klay and CP3 will shed about 75 million from the wage bill. They'll be able to be more flexible in the market then.
