Mavs send Bertans to OKC who moved up to 10th.
Mavs also get Richaun Holmes who last year did not play much with Kings.
I don't really know much about Holmes, what little I've seen seems to be a decent rim protector, high energy, dunks and lobs kind of player.
Overall, I think it should be a decent move. He fits on paper and is the player that Javale McGee was supposed to be.
On the other hand, hardly a player that will move the needle except fixing a glaring hole, which of course is important, just don't expect him to go off.
This leaves rotation:
Luka / Hardy / Holiday* / Ntlikina* / Cason Williams (rook) / Pinson*
Kyrie / THJ
Green / Bullock
Kleber / Woods* / Morris*
Holmes / Powell / Javale
Yeah, that's going to be a lot of guys looking for new teams. I highly doubt they'll keep the players with * next to their names.
Woods will be gone as a free agent or sign and traded. Personally I like Javale, but he probably don't want to be there anymore when Kidd clearly doesn't like him.
Morris should be used or traded, he's a decent player, but again, Mavs don't seem like they want him used.
If I was Mavs, I'd try to get DFS back for some of those players. DFS was a glue guy and culture guy. Admit it was wrong to trade him and get him back.
I'd also look into a getting Gallinari as the backup to Kleber.

Holmes was unplayable in sacramentos new system. Even when he was good he was a bad defender, his strength is finishing in the pick and roll. Think montrezl Harrell type. Point of trades was getting draft picks and cap space switching from bertans bad contract to Holmes’. I would look at Bruce brown if you can pay him. Good fit on most teams

Holmes is an infinitely better shot blocker and rim protector than any version of Montrez Harrell. He is way more athletic and an elite lob threat. He is an exciting dunker and is entertaining to watch with his above the rim energy.
His defense has improved since arriving in Sacramento, I think he is a good fit in Dallas as a back up centre playing major minutes, only thing missing is 3 point shooting but he can sometimes knock them down with his extremely strange looking jumpshot.
I personally never wanted him to leave Philadelphia. His defensive awareness was always holding him back, but he has improved that to his credit.

Yeah I don't believe in players falling off a cliff, that's just fans living in the moment.
Holmes seems like a decent player, not a great defender maybe, but high energy.
On a championship team, he'd definitely not start though.

rich homie, decent end of the bench player but doesn't move the needle at all tbh. just fills a bench role that you can put in for 5 minutes to give your role player a breather. he's a 3rd stringer type.

Disagree, he is easily a 15-20 minute guy with Luka.
Luka makes Dwight freaking Powell look almost like a starter.

he has no handles from what i rmbr
nvm, just saw his stats...damn he improved significantly from his PHX days, that's more than a barely serviceable 3rd stringer i rmbr. interesting pickup indeed then.

His first couple years in Sacramento he really broke out of no where. I sure wasn't expecting it. He looked like a legit NBA starting center.
Once Sabonis was came it was all over for him there. He is getting later into his career, so maybe his flash in the pan best is behind him and he won't reach that production again.
Playing with Luka and possibly Kyrie seems like a good spot for him to flourish tho.

If Tristan Thompson could get paid and laid, then so can Richy Homie.

Seems like a pretty good draft night for the Mavs all things considered.
I hope Kidd has the balls to play the young guys in the regular season quite a bit and hopefully Josh Green takes another step forward. He's in year 4 now and should be getting 35 minutes a night and hopefully around 10 shots if he were able to go up another level.
If Kyrie comes back and Green is a 35 minute a night guy...team could be pretty decent if they get production out of the rookies.
I'd probably like to see Hardaway traded, but I don't know his value in the league currently.

Mavs reddit is going full delusional. Why are sports fans so dumb?
In reality, the Mavs have improved only marginally so far with a rookie center and a question mark.

They're coronating "Nico" because he got a TPE or something.
Let's be real, as of right now, "Nico" has basically repeated last season in getting Holmes instead of Javale.

Definitely nothing huge, but I do like what they did in the draft...but we'll see...lot of work left to do...and honestly...the team is likely most dependent on whether or not Josh Green is able to play at a higher level and for significantly longer every night. I think he can...so it could be an intriguing season if Kyrie is back and the team is mostly healthy.

I mean they got a first just going from bertans to Holmes and opened up the mle. From just a value standpoint, that’s a swindling

Yeah, if Josh Green can take another step, then that's looking good for Dallas.
