Do people think it'll be another tank year, or do we see large improvement with Wemby on board?

They should improve some. Doubt they'll be a playoff team yet though - that will probably take a couple years of rebuilding.

You'd hope that they compete for a play-in spot. I could see them around the 36-42 win mark. Victor averaging something like 17 points, 9 rebounds, 2-3 assists, and 2.5-3.0+ blocks on 50% FG per game.
But maybe 30-35 wins is more realistic. I don't know. Wemby could be anything.

I think people expecting him to be a difference maker right away are going to be disappointed.

Victor will be somewhat disappointing and Spurs will continue to be trash. He's been over-hyped.

Probably sits his rookie year a la Griffin, Simmons and Embiid as Spurs tank for a running mate.

I think Wemby will be a bit underwhelming in his rookie year and the Spurs will still be weak. Dont see them making the play in.

I feel like he's really overrated. 7'5 and stick skinny without great jumpshooting skill? It feels like a manute bol type thing. Scouts overrate height. He'd be better off 7'0 and muscular than that. There's nothing about this guy other than his height that screams superstar unless he thickens up, but that's hard to do at 7'5. Almost impossible.

I think Wemby's rookie season highlight reel will look a lot like AD's one. He averaged 13.5 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.2 spg, 1.8 bpg on 52% FG and 75% FT in 28.8 MPG. I feel like Victor's numbers will be somewhat similar.

Not saying he can't do that, but AD has a much more muscular build on him. Which is crazy to say given he wasnt that big as a young guy. His joints and delts are bigger though. I just feel like it's impossible for a 7'5 guy to come in this skinny and ever be strong. It's certainly never happened before. The lankiness is too hard to overcome. Like the African Porzingis minus elite shooting.

There's no rush for the Spurs to be a contending team. They should take it slow this year and use it to develop Wemby, Keldon, Sochan and Vassell and whatever other young guys they get. No one should blame them or Wemby if they don't make the playoffs again or he isn't a 20/10 player right out the gate. The worst thing would be to push the guy and risk injury.

Plus ability to handle the ball, quicker twitch movements, and elite defensive instincts.

We've seen him play well against Monaco - one of the best Euroleague teams. Wemby is just too mobile and tall/long to be rendered ineffective.
He'll still score even if he doesn't have the best position due to his lack of strength. His standing reach and wingspan are simply that large; he'll come over the top of guys on putbacks. He'll catch lobs and rolls and still finish strong. He'll run the break and get easy baskets. He'll get post seals on forwards and guards.
And that's just offense. He'll be everywhere defensively. Guys will push him out of position but his size and length will allow him to contest. Chet's doing the same and he's much smaller.

I don't doubt it's possible especially in todays league where it's less of a fight game to be great. All I'm saying is we've never seen it happen before. There's never been a manute bol type physique to dominate basketball. It's a violent game at the top level and physical prowess matters more than height. It's better to be strong than long.

He's 235 pounds at 7'4" to 7'5" right now. He'll add at least 25+ pounds if not 30+. Will just take some time. He has the size, athleticism, and technical proficiency already and that's enough to have an impact from day one. I think 13-17 ppg, 8-10 rpg, 1.5-3 apg, 2.5-3+ bpg on 50% FG is reasonable.

I just watched some of his high lights for the 1st time, he does have a Durant like smoothness... well see how it translates. Perhaps if a GOAT were to come along they'd come in a form we never saw before.

This. But it's not impossible to see him exceed some expectations, though his longevity is still in question.
