I think that was the season Kobe became the Lakers top scorer, and best player in the regular season. He averaged 30 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 5.9 apg, 2.2 spg in 82 games.
Even in the playoffs he led the Lakers in scoring with 32.1 ppg. They lost to the Spurs in the playoffs.

I agree, I've been working on a project of the 50 greatest players at each position and their best overall season. I have Kobe's 2002-'03 season as his best.

Imo McGrady was the best player that regular season.

Just a physical beast that year. Kobes athleticism has always been underrated. His body control, dexterity, vert, quickness, 1st step, length, strength were unmatched outside of Jordan. Imagine Devin booker doing the things Kobe did physically. He's like a pipsqueak by comparison but dominates today's game at least numerically on offense. Imagine what Kobe would do.....

Nah, his best season was 2006. He completely mastered his offensive game by that point. His 2007 season also gets underrated.

He was definitely more athletic overall than McGrady and Carter. We had a good thread about a year or two ago.
