Setting aside his reach in associating Joker’s stoicism with the entire international player base, Im curious how much yall look forward to a society where everything is the same on every part of the planet?
The NBA will obviously be an overseas league eventually, and basketball will look and be played in similar fashion everywhere you go.
I just saw an article about the first HBCU (historically black college/university) with a hockey team. Hockey is not historically a widely popular game in the black community, but the NHL is targeting/investing these initiatives bc it wants to grow its fanbase, aka customers.
Im curious what your take is on removing the cultural/regional identities of institutions and making them universal, so that 8 billion people like and do the same things everywhere in the world.
It’s no doubt hugely profitable to people in ownership. But will it make society more interesting and fulfilling for the average person? No group identity, no diversity of cultures and lifestyles. Everyone everywhere will have the same experience.
Im not suggesting it’s objectively good or bad overall. You can highlight both benefits and drawbacks. The thought just has me in a philosophical mood I suppose.
Of course, I know Im wasting my breath to be even asking ISH about this sort of thing :lol

They've been hyping up international draft prospects like Wiggins, Luka and Wembenyama.

Diversity is good.
Fake diversity aka. making everything the same but with different skin colors is not good.
It's like how there's a McDonalds everywhere in the world, but I'd rather eat some Tapsilog.
What's happening though is more about class than race.
If you're a well off and educated person, then you look to other well off and educated persons around the world, more than you look to your common people in your own country.

What do you think Americas main role is in facilitating globalism? It’s creating the culture of Americanism itself.
Inviting a bunch of cultures into the test tube so they can be homogenized and exported back out.
This what Americans are here for. Thought you knew.
Like seriously homie, our Freemason enlightenment fore father mofos had this as their intention.

Creating uniformity and conformity making everyone the same is the goal of every state, religion, science, market based company, whoever.
As for a sports example? The best one in our lifetimes is MMA and the UFC.

This doesn't have much to do with your wider point, but it's my understanding that McDonalds has customized menus in different countries. Sure, they might all have the quarter pounder with cheese available, but they will also have specialty items to account for each region's particular tastes.
It's not that McDonalds has some crazy desire for everyone in the world to all eat big macs, specifically. It's just that they want everyone in the world to buy their food. So I don't think they want to homogenize everyone to the point we all have the same taste buds, but just to the point where we all salivate at the sight of the golden arches. In the end it doesn't matter what we are being served, the important part is that the Sterns and the Silvers of the world get to be in charge of it.

Yeah.
The thing is, McDonalds is trash but most everyone likes it.
After some years you stop craving it, but a lot of people never grow out of it. They have simpler tastes and god bless.
That's the problem with globalization. In the beginning it's fresh and snappy and fun, but then you find out that if something has to appeal to everyone, then it will never really appeal to you as a man/woman, euro/asian/american etc.
We all get grey when some want black and white and some want pink or green.
