dude reminds me of a lot of older one-way players that could just score but never put any effort on the other end of the court.

Clarkson gives effort defensively. He's just not very good. The bigger issue is him pounding the ball, playing 1 on 5, thinking a prayer by the worst shooter on the team is the best shot...

You can put effort on defense and still not be good. Could be due to physically limitations. Athleticism. What all these dudes do exceptionally well is score. I can find you guys who can defend and can’t score if you left them open all game. So long as those guys you name do their job “instant buckets”. You’re good to go
