From a size and offensive skill set pov he seems closest thing to Wemby. Wemby is supposed to be an all world rim protector which accounts for the vast difference in how desired each is and he’s younger so I’m not wondering why one is so coveted and the other gets cut by a bad team. I’m just wondering what Bol is missing that makes him not even be worth keeping as a prospect.

You’ve seen the highlights. He’s put together some full games as well. He just doesn’t seem like the guy to give up on. Is he just a bad locker room guy? What have you heard?

Why wouldnt a shit team like Orlando hold onto a guy like that?

Yossi Gozlan: Bol Bol ($2.2M) can be claimed by teams with cap space or a big enough trade exception (https://*********.com/social/). The Orlando Magic had a roster crunch after signing Joe Ingles and Mo Wagner. Bol might not have figured into the rotation with such a crowded frontcourt. They have $11.3M in cap space left.

if the guy isn't going to play and you can't trade him

I admit I rarely catch magic games so I haven’t seen a whole lot of him. his highlights show promise for sure but there is a chance he’s showing flashes of brilliance but has an equal amount or more of blown plays. high highs and low lows.

Good question.

Bol Bol plays like a shooting guard.

Wemby, scouts hope, would more likely play like Porzingis, a high post, step out, step in, player and more than that, Wemby has show to be able to play center on defense.

I don't think Bol Bol has every shown an ability to guard centers.

You only have to defend about four centers in the NBA though and only two of them play anything like a traditional center. I’ve been reading he’s not as good a rim protector as his block numbers suggests though.

He was a 12-16 minutes per game player towards the end of last season. Maybe he wanted more money/increased role than Orlando was willing to give for an 8th man.

Because he’s just not good. He’ll have a crazy highlight once every 5 games but he does not impact the game. You’d think his strength is defense but he’s slow on rotations, can’t read the defense, and plays slow, weak, and timid. He doesn’t offer much offensively besides the occasional fast break and lob, but he’s not even a good roller or screen setter.

Having watched at best three magic games this season I haven’t seen enough to dispute any of that so I won’t. I will say that this is every game he played 27 minutes this season:

I’ve seen worse out of projects. Hell I’ve seen worse out of first overall picks. But there must be something to what you’re saying or he would be on the roster I guess.

When someone like Bol Bol can't become a good player, then it's pretty much guaranteed to be a combination of low effort (doesn't love the game/soft) and low BBIQ (can't stay within offensive/defensive schemes during real games), and wanting too much money. There are probably some "culture" misfitting going on too since he isn't American.

Stinks on defense, selfish on offense. The end.

Looks like he's got Christian Wood-itis. Whatever that is.

Dudes a black hole offensively. You can count a possession as over as soon as dude touches the ball

This exactly. He's not that good. If Wemby ends up being another Bol Bol, he'll be the biggest bust ever.

The Bum just got 55 million for the same thing and he has no upside like Bol Bol

Christian Wood would be good coming off the bench on the right team. Like LA or something; a team with a strong defense and an elite anchor at center. Those parameters + a cheap contract = good value.

Bol Bol will still become a very good player in the future. For some players it just takes a bit longer to get it together.

He's comparable to tacko fall.

typical rr3 low IQ "defense" remark.

I am now 100% sure Bol Bol is actually a serviceable player

He's comparable to tacko fall.

I guess this true but I have seen Fall's whole NBA career and I could not tell you why he can't get on a roster. I can guess based on stereotypes that he would be a deterrent at the rim but is supposed to be a liability on switches. But we never saw him in a game. It's just something that coaches see and don't like in practice. Wembanyamamust be quicker.

Yeah we don't know who acts uncoachable in practise or just stays out all night or who has a shitty attitude and so on.

Particularly when most of them seem like douchebags, how do you tell a real douchebag from wannabe douchebags.

Did Tacko ever have a good regular season game? For a while this season there seemed to be weekly Bol performances trending online.

For the record I am not going anywhere near your theories of negativity. No one said anything bad about Fall. A guy can be deemed not good enough to play without being a jerk, lack of foot speed does not make someone a bad person.

His career high is 6 points. He was basically a victory cigar and a "good game" just meant he got on the floor for a few minutes of garbage time.

Abysmal defender and a turnover machine with tunnel vision on offense.

I can spot a low motor a mile away. I'm sure he doesn't have the IT factor. You can sense hunger from some role players, basically every Nugget this season and then you can spot someone like bol bol who is invisible at his gigantic height. I'm not gonna pretend I'm an expert on this though, who really watches Magic games? His ceiling prob ain't anywhere near what the other Magic youngins' are. Plus he wanted off the Nuggets as if he was some kinda star or something. Dude said everyone that passed on him in the draft was gonna regret it. How about playing hungry with a chip on your shoulder?

He would be a good signing for the Warriors. They have no height
