Much has been made about Dwight beating up on easy playoff opposition. So I decided to exclude playoff opponents with records below 50 wins.

Includes 2008 Detroit, 2009 Celtics, 2009 Cavaliers, 2009 Lakers, 2010 Atlanta, and the 2010 Celtics. A total of 33 games across three years/playoff runs.

2008-2010 playoff averages vs. 50+ win teams:

- 33 games
- 19.3 ppg, 13.9 rpg, 1.5 apg, 0.9 spg, 2.7 bpg, 3.2 topg
- 58.9% FG, 58.6% FT, 60.85% TS

2008 playoff run:

- 5 games
- 15.2 ppg, 13.4 rpg, 0.2 apg, 0.8 spg, 3.0 bpg, 2.8 topg
- 50.9% FG, 51.3% FT, 52.7% TS

2009 playoff run:

- 18 games
- 19.3 ppg, 15.2 rpg, 2.1 apg, 0.9 spg, 2.6 bpg, 3.0 topg
- 57.7% FG, 62.6% FT, 61.15% TS

2010 playoff run:

- 10 games
- 21.5 ppg, 11.8 rpg, 1.0 apg, 0.8 spg, 2.9 bpg, 3.8 topg
- 64.6% FG, 56.1% FT, 64.33% TS

As you can see, prime Dwight's numbers are resilient against stronger playoff opposition. Dwight's regular season numbers from these three prime seasons were:

2008-2010 regular season averages:

- 243 games
- 19.8 ppg, 13.7 rpg, 1.5 apg, 0.9 spg, 2.6 bpg, 3.2 topg
- 59.3% FG, 59.2% FT, 61.6% TS

Against who I’d consider the legit contenders

‘08 Pistons
‘09 Celtics
‘09 Cavs
‘09 Lakers
‘10 Celtics

He averaged 16 or less in 3 of those series, and even against the 2010 Celtics he only averaged 17 through the first 3 games when the Celtics put them in a 3-0 hole and essentially ended the series, so even then you have to take his final numbers with a grain of salt.

He balled out against the Cavs, but I’d say his track record shows the opposite of what you’re trying to argue, at least against the true contenders.

How many trannys did he bang in his prime and how do those numbers compare to what he could do today if given a full time role in the NBA?

It’s an inflated era for trannies
