View Full Version : Where are the stories of Lebron crushing Shumpert and guards in practice windsprints?

If prime Lebron was the fastest player in the NBA (as Bleacher Report claims), or if he's faster than MJ, there would be video or stories about how he dusts the small guards in practice windsprints.
However, anyone that actually played basketball at a decent level knows that small guards win all the sprints in practice - this is the STANDARD - no cap.. The reality is that Iman Shumpert, JR Smith and other guards were destroying Lebron in the sprints because a bigger player beating the smaller guys in sprints is extremely rare:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWnlBgzP7IE&t=100s
Btw, it's also confirmed fact that MJ ran a 4.3 forty yard dash:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0800Mo661tk&t=05m02s
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZ3o4soE7Xs&t=60s
There is no way that Lebron is anywhere near a 4.3.
Accordingly, the "bigger, stronger, faster" narrative is bullshit similar to other narratives like he "plays 5 positions" (bad fits with many teammates disprove this, along with a point guard hold-time and assisted rate), or that he has all-time bball IQ (never played the best brand of ball like Spurs, Warriors, Nuggets, or Mavs and had bad fits with many teammates).
or that he makes everyone better (many teammates cratered alongside him and given spot-up roles, aka lower APG and higher assisted rate for most teammates)
or that he carries teams - he only won 45 games in 2008 before getting all-star spacing in 2009.. Meanwhile, kyrie played 12 of 14 games in 15' East Playoffs, while Love was a rare all-star sidekick in the 18' East, so the only time Lebron took a 1-star team to the Finals was when everyone else was doing it like Iverson, Kidd, or Dwight.
TLDR: Every media narrative about Lebron is provably false, so he's the most overrated player ever after Pippen (no one benefitted from the winning spotlight more than Pippen).

No teammate of Lebron can ever claim that they, at any point were faster and better than Lebron at picking up the phone to call banana boat friends and other superstars to recruit them after losing. That you can give to bron.

What a weird requirement to prove something you have at least a decade of film on. We've seen prime Lebron blow past every manner of player with the ball, with out the ball, on offense, on defense. Hell young Lebron fairly often outright blew by perimeter defenders without elite dribble moves. You're in denial or just an idiot lol.

MJ may be faster than Lebron but it's slight and p=mv, and the derivative f=ma still apply.
Jordan has quicker acceleration and speed (slightly) but his mass is signifigantly less by an even bigger degree. This is why lebron looks like a freight train with a full head of steam while Jordan had to be more cunning and slither around.

No clue who was the faster sprinter between the two of them. I don't think anyone does.
Jordan was far and away the better bball player though. So there's that.

I agree with that. Lebron was the more impressive athlete though. I remember in college playing a scrimmage vs a guy who was on the Rutgers practice team, he was probably 210 lbs and I was only 175. It didn't matter which direction I picked, the momentum was too strong and I'd end up getting bowled over. Size matters.

For now. After he retires and the media moves on to the next hype job, he'll be barely ahead of Kobe. They'll probably be somewhere around 10 and 12 respecively.

Nah. I mean, I know you don't care about reality, just the one you've created in your head, but just keeping it real, he honestly will be a consensus top 2 player for a very long time. His resume legitimately blows away everyone in that 6-10 range.

Once again, all you can do is make things up and try to twist them.
I said he was in the discussion before the recency bias wore off. And I proved he was by showing exactly what I claimed.
Of course, it was a bunch of non-intelligent casuals, such as yourself, who were inflating Kobe at the time. Just like that demographic does with Lebron now.
Truth hurts, doesn't it.

Wasn't just realgm, I've been around insidehoops since 2007, the general consensus on this board around 2009-2013 was that Kobe was a borderline top 10 player ever. He was never a GOAT candidate. Do you want me to embarrass you again and find a thread on this site backing up what I'm saying?

Lebron probably holds back in practice since he doesn't want to injure his teammates by running them over.

I've already shown you threads claiming Kobe was GOAT. You can keep on having bitch fits, but it doesn't change facts.
It's obvious how desperate you are for a win when you get giddy with excitement every time I make a typo.

Bro, realistically only Kobe fans have ever considered him GOAT. That's why when they ranked him 12th it was widely accepted without much pushback. Even guys who hate Lebron"s guts save for the extreme cases, recognize him up there in a spot that the conversation happens. Kobe was never in that discussion seriously once you started laying everything out.

Lebron has better stats but Kobe's skillset had better chemistry, brand of ball, strategic capacity, teammate development and clutch.,
So he won more with less and had higher team ceilngs.
He also didn't need Pippen and won titles with Derek Fisher's 3 APG

As an off-guard, Kobe had expert jumpshooting skill and played off-ball, which allowed teammates to assist him, aka Kobe could get 40 while the ball moved, which allowed great chemistry, fits, and strategic capacity/coaching to beat top teams.. This contrasts with ball-dominators that can't get 40 while the ball moves and teammates are reduced to spot-up shooters, which can't beat top teams.. So the statistical dominance of the ball-dominator comes at a price of team ceiling/strategic capacity/brand of ball.
If Kobe was just a dumb ball-dominator like Luka or Lebron, then Phil would've been forced to put the ball in his hands and therefore abandon the triangle or high team ceiling and dominant favorite capability...]
So again, Kobe's skillset allowed teammates to excel and reach their top caliber like shaq, pau, bynum, odom or basically any decent player that Kobe ever played with.. This contrasts with Lebron because his ball-dominance destroyed Love, Bosh, Hughes, Ingram and more by turning them into spot-up shooter... it's a clear difference where Lebron's reliance on ball-dominance hurts team ceiling and requires more help than Kobe needed.
