What a ****ing joke that is...... he will only have spent a couple of seasons there!

Really diminishes the true Laker legends like Magic and Kobe and their jersey retirements!

Lebron is a ring chasing journeyman.
Only place his jersey should be retired is in Cleveland.

Very disappointed with the Lakers and Miss Buss.

Miami better not do the same moronic crap!

LeBron left a championship contender to join a lottery team...twice.

Hurrr, ring chaser, durrr.

Kobe stood for competition and integrity. What a way to spit on Kobe’s legacy to have a fraud’s jersey hang next to his.

Kobe was very lucky to have been a part of the Lakers. Let's not act like he persevered through all of this crazy adversity.

Let's not pretend like Lebron did either. No Mickey Mouse bubble, no LA chip.

In fact after having a dream setup of playing for the leagues marquee franchise, with a top 10 player of all time in his prime for 8 seasons, then adding Phil as coach, after just a couple of seasons where he wasn't on a championship contender, he demanded to be traded :lol Put Kobe in Charlotte, Cleveland, Minnesota etc, there's a zero percent chance he's staying on those squads. He had a better setup than 99.9% of players ever did to start his career, won 3 championships, and still demanded to be traded. Kobe being some loyal player is a total myth.

Didn’t Wilt only play like 5 seasons with the Lakers? Was past his prime for pretty much all of it as well.

Did I say Lebron did? Don’t invent arguments people haven’t made.

Yes Kobe was a competitor of the highest degree, no question. But Lebrons team-hopping has people thinking that Kobe was some warrior for sticking it out with the same team his whole career. It was the fvcking Lakers :lol

Not a good comparison.

bullshit.... Heat lost to the spurs in the finals... then immediately Lebron jumped ship, back to Cleveland, because they recently had multiple top first round draft picks.

He knew they were about to be good.

He would never have gone back to Cleveland had they been a crap team at that time.

Absolutely...... this is beyond ridiculous.

Lebron will never be a Laker in mine and many Laker fans eyes.

Still look so ****ing weird seeing him in that uniform.

doesn't feel right at all!

At least it's the awful banana peel yellow, and not the glorious real Lakers Gold uniform that Kobe and the rest of the Laker greats wore.

they had a great team..... but bitch lebron saw the number 1 picks go to cleveland.... and he bolted!

trying to make it sound like he moved for his hometown.... such bull!

Seems like you forgot, Kobe almost went to the Clippers coming off a Finals loss with 3 hof'ers, asked for a trade to the bulls in 2007 and really only didn't go because HE couldn't get the player he wanted in the trade outcome. So basically the only reason you didn't watch his career play out in Chicago instead of winning the Lakers 2 more rings was his inability to control his destiny, something Lebron would later do famously and effortlessly.

but your premise is he ring chases, isnt it? he would have stayed with the Heat if that's his M.O.since they were just in the Finals

Dude I’m not talking about Lebron. Keep up.

This is about people acting like Kobe was brave for staying with the Lakers. The most prestigious and greatest franchise in the last 60 years of American sports. Please..

Jeanie Buss has always been a shameless Lebron slurper. Everyone else knows that during Lebron's entire tenure with LA, it's been no AD, no playoffs / no Lebron, no dead weight.

Exactly. Only Bronie fluffers can try to somehow spin Lebron's jumping ship and team stacking to be some kind of noble thing.

I am not going to simply compare the trajectory of Kobe and LeBron, but equating the importance of one and the other in the Lakers should be punishable by jail.

Let each one decide which of the two seems better, but for one reason or another, Kobe played his entire career in the Lakers, LeBron arrived in the twilight of his career, without super powers and with the most serious injuries of his entire professional career. .

Kobe gave his life on the court for this franchise, LeBron arrived as part of his plan to do business in a large market.

I am a fan of both players, but it seems ridiculous that they are compared in importance in Lakerland.

If you had to remove the jersey of each player who has won a ring in the Lakers, the numbers would have been finished, we are talking about one of the most successful teams in the entire NBA.

He's a top 10 player of all time, has made an impact on the league for two decades so this is the right thing to do. I don't think his banner should be hung though. I would think guys like Pau have made a bigger impact to the lakers themselves but that's just my .02
