Bruh, I Promise is about leveling the environmental playing field, and then seeing which kids it makes a difference for, and which it doesnt.

Not every kid is gonna be Einstein. The school takes the lowest performing kids from the lowest performing districts. These are the kids historically would end up most likely to grow up involved in crime. This gets them into stable environment, off the streets, with a support system tailored to helping them figure out what to do as adults.

It’s not about getting every kid to be a math whiz. Thats never gonna happen. Its about pooling the kids with significant struggles together and figuring out ways to prepare them for adult life without having to turn to vice.

Should every kid be able to throw a knuckle ball or theyre failures?

Not everyone can do everything. I Promise removes the “underfunded, lack of resources, lack of support” factor from the equation to see which kids just cant really do some of these things regardless. Not due to a disability, but just because theyre at the lowest end of the distribution curve for academic skill sets.

Knowing who they are helps society to plan for their futures accordingly and hopefully identify skills they do have that will allow them to be productive. It’s a dignified solution for everyone.

Hell Id like to see some of the ISH usual suspects attend I Promise. Give them a place to spend their free time, give them housing. Give them a lot of wraparound support so theyre not wandering out into neighboring communities getting harassed by police or people hunting them down in the streets every day. Give them a place of their own. With unlimited internet and video games. Meals delivered by drone. They dont have to see anyone they dont want to. No police, no tax agents, no hurtful triggers. There can be a grounds outside to play on, but if theres another dangerous pandemic or a climate disaster siren goes off then everyone needs to return inside until it can be resolved.
