Not talking about on-court IQ. You could argue Kobe played a lot of low IQ basketball, but he didnt have a low g factor (general intelligence) in real life.

You look at the guys in the top ten. Kareem, duncan, bird, wilt, LEBRON, etc… these are all guys you could talk with as rookies and say “yeah I could see him leading an elite team some day.” And as you go down the list its still clearly correlated. Stockton, Malone, Dirk, West, Admiral, on and on. It makes sense ofc that the best of the best have intelligence along with skill, athleticism etc.

Which is why it perpetually shocks me when teams use high lotto picks on guys like Steve Francis, Darius Miles, Michael B-EZley, Brandon Miller, etc. You KNOW these guys have no real precedent of becoming franchise cornerstones. Its basically a factual certainty you will not get a HOFer. How can your dumbest player be your most important leader? Ive just never understood why teams dont seem to make this connection. Arent you better off taking a Jaime Jacquez who might become nothing but also might find some Jason Kidd type ‘it,’ over a John Wall who you just know doesnt have the maturity of mentality for winning?? Youre gonna take a top 5 lotto pick and select DeMarcus Cousins??

Anyway it just made me wonder… who IS the lowest IQ atg? Again, not necessarily in a basketball sense but just in how you perceive them generally.

I hate to name individuals like that, Im not tryin to be mean. Just kinda tryin to think about how anomalous it is. Maybe a Philly player from the early 00s? Is there anyone higher than him on the list who’s lower than him on the test?

There are zero examples of him being smart IRL. Quite the opposite, him crying about fans and blowing up on media members screams low IQ and emotional.

Having a 3.9 GPA in high school (or college for that matter) doesn't say anything about IQ. He obviously has discipline to finish every assignment and take it seriously just like he shows up for every practice and plays hard. Discipline isn't IQ.
