The Suns will retire the jerseys of Amare Stoudemire and Shawn Marion.

Both players were very good, but were they great?

Like Bruce Bowen or Sean Elliot, they were not all time great but still deserve their jersey retired

Amare might be top ten not in the Hall of Fame and Marion is better than some of the other retired guys Alvan Adams and Dan Marjerle

holy shit.... that is what mediocre teams always do to keep fans interested.

they can't win championships because they can't lure players over, or hold on to up and coming players.

forever low tier.... so what can they do to keep fans talking: retire the numbers of former players who have no business of getting said number retired.

Whatever, Matrix and Stat are the 2 exact players who got me interested in tuning into basketball games when I was 13, the season before Nash got there.

That will always be one of my favorite eras of Suns basketball. Yeah they never won a championship here, but who cares. We all know they would have won a minimum of 1 if not for injuries, 2007 Horry suspension shenanigans, and Robert Sarver sabotaging the team letting Joe Johnson walk because he was a cheap ass owner, and even committing the worst sin of all... selling 1st round draft picks for cash considerations which ended up being Luol Deng(or Andre Iguadala who we were more interest in) as well as Rajon Rondo. And traded prime Matrix for a washed up Shaq who didn't even fit the Suns run-and-gun type offensive scheme.

Imagine trading 1st round picks for cash. Especially a #7 overall pick. Sarver might be the worst owner in NBA history.

Lakers are going to retire LeShrivel's number, so why not?

Because one of them helped the franchise gain a title, has been the face of the league for two decades and is unanimously top 10 of all time and all time points leader.

Amare and shawn marion made the suns highly competitive, they under achieved.

But he also led a superteam to the lottery for them. So it basically cancels out.

Lets be real, Nash was the engine of that team. I doubt they get their numbers retired if Nash never played there.

So you think lakers fans would give up the title to have made the playoffs last year?

Marion was their best defender and allaround player and at times was their leading scorer filling up the statsheet way before Nash arrived so he certainly deserves it

Nah. But everyone who's not a Lakers fan or a Bronie fluffer knows the 2020 ring was a joke (and a fluke) anyway.

I have no problem with this.

Arguably the greatest era in Suns history and those two were big contributors. It's not like they're going into the HOF, but teams should be able to honor their own "legends" as they deem fit.

They were instrumental in their success, but I just can't see them retiring their jerseys. :confusedshrug:

Why was it a fluke

They deserve it. Multiple-time AllStars that were part of some of the best Sun team's. Of you demand more individual successes then the only guys they would retire are Barkley and nah and of you demand rings they don't retire anyone.
