5 people dead. It was so big it totally flattened the 2 houses next to it as well. Gas has already ruled out

Supposedly the neighborhood sat on top of an abandoned mine. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. Old explosives?

Doubtful

I mean most soil is compacted and a foundation would pretty much have absorbed a good amount of that explosion. This seems like a gas leak or something above the foundation despite what they're saying... that's my guess.

They still haven't announced what they think the cause of the explosion is other than they are focusing on the hot water heater. I don't see how that could be the cause but if so, that must have been one hella a water heater
