Some people don’t understand how much of a shock the Lakers losing this series was to NBA fans. Every fan was certain the Lakers would stomp Detroit in the Finals even with old GP and old/injured Malone. Detroit was just looked at as this solid team with great defense but not enough fire power. I don’t remember the series odds, but it has to be up there with the greatest finals upset ever if you are just looking at the Vegas odds.

It's frankly not even close, it's betting odds wise the biggest upset in Finals history by FAR. The Pistons were +500 to win that series, the next closest I could find was the Raptors at +230.

I would like to see the Finals odds for the ‘69 Finals but can’t find anything on it, I’m sure the Lakers were heavy favorites in that series too.

I'd be surprised if the 10x champs were getting +500 odds :lol That's reserved for like the '02 Nets.

I was 12 at the time and won the first bet of my life against my dads friend. It was $20 vs $100 (obviously my dad was checking the $20 of the Lakers won).

Winning $100 was literally the lottery at that age lol
