In the future?

Who will make people who remember them realize fans of the future are ****ing clueless and need to shot into the sun for the good of our planet?

Jokic for sure. Even with all the available footage some guy talking 30 years from now is not going to be that impressed. You would think that there being so much footage people would watch it but spend a little time around young basketball players. History wise? A lot of them are clueless about five or six years ago. They aren’t out here checking YouTube for old players. They know the game they play and watch. I heard a former nba executive who has kids who play in middle school say his kids overheard him talking about the big three era heat, and was shocked to discover LeBron played in Miami. These are 12-13 year old basketball players.

I promise you in a couple decades a lot of these people will just be names to casual fans and the little “20 years ago today….” nba clips on social media will be getting mocked.

Jokic is a prime candidate. Not that he’d care. He will be somewhere trying to win the Kentucky derby.

Of all available centers of that era he took Ewing who more often than not fell in love with his midrange jumpshot.

He had range. Not hard to imagine him shooting 3's today. Could he guard in space like Gobert would be the bigger question?

Thats my issue. How is this the guy to make that point?

If you don’t know how someone played why not just sit quietly? You don’t see me criticizing the skill set of people I don’t remember and haven’t even looked into. What good could come of it? Eventually someone is going to call you out.

Which version? Young Ewing? Sure. Post 1990? No. He became pretty slow footed pretty quick.

And that's Kneepad-rick Ewing already.

The whole reason i post on ish, other than obsessive writing tendencies, is for the people who are passing thru. I read 20 page threads on forums of bot lvl arguments and wait for someone to post something worth. Not saying im always bringing worth but i got something different. I dont even think it matters what people say on most topics or who is regarded as what because as i said, bots can generate these arguments. There is no creative thought at all. Why worry about a hot take then?

Did you see Gobert get posterized by Duop Reath in France's loss to Australia the other day?

I suppose it will be players that are either unathletic or unskilled in some fashion, like shooting perhaps. Maybe Jimmy Butler? But you'd think his playoff success in Miami would trump that.

Dwight Howard has already been shit on by a lot of people. And he's only been out of the league for one season. A decade removed from his prime and people forgot that he was a top 5 guy for like half a decade. Many thought top 3 for several of those seasons too. ESPN's annual player rankings had him 2nd in 2011 and 3rd in 2012.

Maybe Zach Randolph?

I would say Draymond if it weren't for his media presence. Aren't his career numbers like 9/8/6?

That said, I think the opposite: I think a lot of guys from this era are going to get overrated and few will get underrated. Basketball fans are becoming nerdier, so guys like Jokic will fare ok. And however nerdy you are, it's hard to get past counting stats, so I have a hard time seeing Giannis, Embiid, Harden, Lillard etc. getting dismissed for having their best seasons in years with inflated scoring numbers. I think everyone will come out a winner, and it will be an issue for us to remind people that actually, no, Lillard was never considered top 5, etc.

Chris Paul. He is going to be remembered only for his failures and anything else about him will be twisted to support that narrative. Kinda like the Ewing example :lol

Going the other way I feel like its gonna be Kawhi that gets credit for a bunch of things he never accomplished but "should have been"... turning him into a larger than he was historical figure in the game.
