Frankly couldn't care less.

The greatest athletes often times aren't very good in management or coaching positions. Largely because what makes them great as athletes (their instinctive, inate ability to read/react to the sport) isn't something that can translate or be taught to others.

Wayne Gretzky was a mediocre coach in the NHL, but he's the greatest player in the sport. Magic was a mediocre coach, even though he's considered the greatest floor general. Isiah Thomas ran the Knicks into the ground.

Guys like Jerry West are really rare, but whatever. His management career doesn't suddenly make up for all the times he lost in the NBA Finals as a player. It doesn't work like that. Playing career is the playing career, any coaching/management shit afterwards is just a completely different thing.
