They really could have been the Spurs of the East
Going 1/8 in ECF appearances :ohwell:
The Pacers have appeared in the NBA Eastern Conference finals eight times (1994, 1995, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2004, 2013, 2014) The Pacers are one of 11 franchises to have never won an NBA championship and the only Central Division team without at least one title.

Is it luck or limitation? Reggie Miller and Paul George were good players but they never had a top top player in their team. They were deep often. Spurs otoh(shoutout to 3ball) always had a killer in Duncan or even Kawhi in later years. Add D-Rob and Manu and they won a lot ofc.

Not sure about the spurs of the east thing but they were always a good game away or even a few plays away from making the Finals.
They lost in seven games four times in the Conference Finals to guys like Ewing, Shaq, Jordan and Lebron.
They had their best team ever in 98 only to run into the Bulls at the end of their Dynasty and when they did make the Finals in 2000 they had to face Shaq at his absolute peak and starting his reign at the top alongside Kobe.
