YES :
you believe where you live temps have changed , and it is not going back to what it was 20 years ago or older.
No : These temps are normal , and no one can prove me wrong.
I say yes. 65 years I have been on this planet , and have several examples. 35 years ago , I hunted ducks opening weekend Oct. 1st in
Wisconsin , and broke ice in the marshes to hunt. The season starts now in Sept .. but for a month I am fighting skeeters , and temps rarely
are in the 30's .. until third week of Oct. Our winters typically were 4.5 months and now we have winter 6 months and 2-4 times during the
winter it rains !!! Last three years Wisconsin where I live has had record snow falls 100-130 inch's a year.
The jet stream has shifted and we are getting more Canadian weather than ever before.
This summer not only drought conditions , I have mowed my horse pasture 1 time this year , (to cut down weeds) typically I am mowing 4-5 times a summer because the grass is to long for the horses to eat.

Texas got flash frozen two years in a row and some people there don't think it was because of the climate change?
Weird temperature swings in last few years, especially during winters, are one of signs something is going wrong.

So wait, you think the climate has changed in 20 years and it's not going back from there? That's pretty nuts from a scientific perspective. I guess I could expound and assume you mean that it somehow hit MASS EFFECT 20 years ago and is just gonna get worse exponentially until we all burn alive?
I feel like climate is a cycle. I feel like dumping nuke waste in ocean + pollution absolutely does affect our climate, but I do not agree that it is a one way process to doom. I believe the ocean and the air are like living organisms that can repair themselves and that much more disgusting things have happened in history which we have recovered from. But I'm not really a scientist, so that's just my personal PoV.
We shall see! If climate is getting worse at the rate people say it is, we will live to see some really crazy things. Better get right with God!

This is the first time that I can remember that Jasper created a poll in which he didn't set it to where users can vote for all the choices. He has really impressed me as of late. First learning how to embed YouTube video, and now creating a proper poll.
As for the question. It's such a scam, involving deep corruption, manipulation, deception going back decades. And this deep corruption and manipulation is very complicated, and it has to go up against a very simple narrative of greenhouse gases, which is very intuitive and simple to understand for the average person passively living their life. People accept it and don't give it any much more thought.
But to me, the fascinating part is just how effective big money is at creating and maintaining this narrative, through funding. And just pure corruption. Basically, setting up an environment where if you don't follow the line, then your career is ruin.
I've been wanting to create a thread about the very complicated topic, but decided to wait a few months since Baller234 recently created a climate change related thread (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?513777-If-you-consider-quot-climate-change-quot-to-be-a-major-issue-you-re-a-brainless-lemming).

In other words you disagree that there is no weather change , and changes have occurred thousands of years.

If there is indeed a climate crisis, it has nothing to do with the car you drive or for how long you run your AC. It has to do with population and with deforestation. And a newsflash for all of those who don't know how electric car batteries are made, but you need to remove more trees and resources from the planet, so in a sense, do more damage and cause more climate change to be able to find the elements and raw materials for electric running vehicles. It's a scam. And the solutions are quite simple. A city with trees is cooler than a city without trees. Stop cutting down trees to build more homes, and start building up. Meaning more skyscrapers. Use less space on the map. Ancient civilizations lived in the trees or in the ground. They didn't cut down the whole forest to build a house or a f'n IKEA dresser.
Climate change is due mainly to the people running the world so any individual citizen should not be getting shamed over it. The governments across the planet and massive corporations are to blame.

you are right about deforestation: BUT it is not only for new houses (population increase) BUT it is also to supply food for the masses.
All most every country has upped their production of food, and people in USA don't realize our production is dropping or will drop significantly because of the loss of water.
I dog train , and even though I am in the most concentrated lake region in the world , I have lost 8 ponds. Some have scant amount of water, or bone dry. I am now driving 90+ minutes to train my dog in a pond. Out west the reservoirs that supply not just cites but states has lost several feet, and may take decades to recover.
How are those food farms doing ? Many have cut their production , and your food prices have gone up.
Same in the beef industry. Cattle need food , and those resources are struggling as well.
I have a farm in ND and my neighbors (all cattle farms ), are having issues feeding their cattle. (beef prices up in grocery stores ?)

Its usually absurd measures.
Bill Gates is currently funding millions of trees getting chopped off to save the climate.
Theyre talking about blocking the sun or putting lasers in the sky to change the weather.
They banned gas stoves in some states.

You are an completely clueless, aren't you Chewbacca's? Climate crisis has to do with all of it. Mostly so due to pollution, which includes vehicles (co2), excessive number of animals we breed for consumption (methane), manufacturing processes, etc. Deforestation is also contributing factor to climate change and so is population expansion.
And you are wrong about electric cars. Yes, you do need to mine lithium and use resources, but it gives you vastly better mileage than gas cars, batteries last for decades & be recycled/reused at the end, and you can also recharge using renewable energy like solar/wind/hydro/etc (and nuclear energy too). As renewable energy continues to grow (and as solar systems drop in cost each year), it will be much cheaper than using oil to fuel your car. Our goal is to significantly cut down on pollution, not to cut all pollution. Comprehend the difference?

Agriculture, mainly grazing grounds for animals we breed for consumption like cows/sheep/etc, uses a ton of land. If we significantly lessened meat consumption globally or switched to fake meat, it would be very helpful. And for agriculture farms, you can do vertical stacking of farms inside buildings and grow more food that way (I forget what those vertical farms are called). And ofc, we can plant a lot more trees.

Did you read the rest of my post? Batteries give much better mileage, much longer life, can be reused/recycled for decades more beyond its normal lifetime, and can be recharged using clean renewable energy to improve its e-MPG even more. All much better for the environment than ICE vehicles.

This is probably one of the most intelligent comments on ISH I have seen in years.
Granted our world has just started the conversion , and it will take probably 30-50 years, but your kids and grandkids will benefit from it , and they can say grandpa or grandma helped make our world better.
Being selfish , saying it's bullshit only tells me that you only think of your self or your generation , and screw the next generation of people , animals and plants that live on mother earth.
our biggest net project for our world is converting salt water for farms to generate food , whether it is animals or plants. I can not emphasize how shortage of USA fresh water is becoming.

Substituting 50% of meat consumption for plant-based alternative (i.e. fake meat) can reduce 31% of agricultural greenhouse gas emissions. That includes beef, pork, and chicken (not sure about fish). That's quite significant. It can also save lots of freshwater, forests, and land necessary for grazing/feed for these domesticated animals bred just for consumption.

YES :
you believe where you live temps have changed , and it is not going back to what it was 20 years ago or older.
Here's the thing though: at what period in the earth's history has the climate not been changing?

The Earth feels hotter because of mass deforestation. I've already given you clowns the answer. Plant a tree on your farm and put a sock in it.

I responded to you with actual science, which you didn't bother to read. I have done research on climate change so I have seen the data and the numbers. It's not just deforestation by itself but imcludes much more.

The earth has gone through crazy swings in temperature and land mass and ocean changing since its inception. Humans are definitely a plague upon nature right now though I have to agree with. There's way too many of us and we're killing all other majestic forms of life. Every type of elephant and whale, tigers, wolves, eagles etc. even chimps and orangutans. Every type of beautiful forest and tree as well. We went from 1 billion people 100 years ago to over 8 billion today. That's absurd. At this point humans are basically a parasite on this planet sucking up an infinite amount of resources and killing everything that surrounds them.

Not usually in this short period of approximately 150 years (essentially correlates with the beginning of the industrial revolution when coal entered the picture). The exceptions have been massive volcanic eruptions and things like asteroid strikes & massive solar storms.

Have you planted a tree today? I know it's hard whilst on a wheelchair, but digging a hole can't be that hard.

Throw all Liberals into the ocean.
They used to do that back in the day. If a baby blade popped out with a deformed foot they would have just let it go into the sea.
Wouldn’t it be nice.

If there is global warming, there are still a dozen environmental hazards that are more dangerous for humanity yet they are largely ignored for financial reasons
A slight warming of the atmosphere over time wont extinct humans, worst case scenario canada and russia have incereased migration. Meanwhile the real threats to the future health/safety of humanity are things like microplastics, heavy metals, synthetic fertilizers, engineered viruses, electromagnetic interference.... "the idea that humanity is at risk of getting too hot is a distraction for simpletons who cant think beyond what their media tells them to think"

I have planted about 1000 trees on my farm ,,, u are lucky if you know what a tree looks like in your fabricated world.
Well guess what - you will be paying me yearly for the wind mill I am allowing to go up on my ND farm.
Just talked with INvenergy... looks like a go.
Will be getting 6500 a year with 8% increases annually.
Patsy don't forget to turn on your lights !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :lol:roll::lol

Slight warming ???? so the examples you have given are they affecting the over all health of the planet and people as global warming??
I don't think so. The whole planet is warming up, and if the oceans increase 2 feet , NY city for example won't have a chance as well as several other cities in the world.

These are literally insignificant to the world population , Already our food prices have arisen because farms are having issues with a drought , and that transcends to beef , pork, and chickens , because grains are not as productive. My brother in law is a scientist and before he retired two years ago , he analyzed a study of the Atlantic ocean , where the statue of liberty sits , ocean levels are up 1 foot. That has never been recorded in history. 1 foot to you means nothing , but NY city sits at ocean level. You going to put NY city residence in your back yard ??
your a joke.

Oh wow, the ocean is going to rise two feet? Has anyone told Obama? Here's his house.

You don't think if the oceans were about to rise, someone like Obama would be the first to know? Tell me, if he isn't scared then why should anyone else be?

And yes, if New York City goes underwater, Nanners would gladly take me in since we are like best friends on this site. It'll be fun. We'll be playing Madden till the weee hours of the morning, then log on ISH drunk and make fun of posters like you and RRR3. I'm almost wanting the oceans to rise and swallow up NYC seeing how fun hanging out with Nanners will be.

Nobody rational denies climate change. The climate debate is about what to do about it. Of course on ISH this nuance is lost. Here we find Jasper and Patrick debating whether the World is coming to an end in 50 years or is the Climate even changing?
