If Webber stays healthy, and the Kings play the Spurs in the 2003 WCF, who do you have and why?

No guarantee they beat the Mavs.

Mavs were the best team that year.

Better hypothetical would be if Dirk stayed healthy.

They prob beat the Spurs and then run rampant on the Nets.

I think, in that case, that the Kings would win the ring because they had the momentum that season (and the previous, though Robert Horry's three and the refs stopped them from winning all).

What if Dirk stays healthy is a big what-if too...

Spurs, they owned the Kings in the regular season.

Backing the Kings to go all the way in that scenario. The Spurs had their number in the RS but several of those games were coin flips and probably not the best representation of each teams strengths. The previous year the Kings won 3 of their 4 meetings and they were 2-2 in ‘03-‘04 as well. Lots of noise to unpack, and I think the Kings were deeper than those Spurs with CW on the court…but we’ll never know.

Here is what I think happens: The Spurs won one more game in the regular season, so they would have had the home court.

In the first two games at the brand-new AT&T Center, SA takes game 1 103-91 (the Kings seemed to start slow in every series back then) before the Kings bounce back to take games two and three.

Then, after Duncan has two strong games, the Spurs win games four and five to push the Kings on the brink of elimination.

In Game 6 at ARCO, the Kings' crowd gets super hype, and they push their team to a big victory and a Game 7 back at SA.

And in Game 7, the Kings, who learn a lesson from the year before, show more resolve on the road, and pull that game out late on a Mike Bibby shot. Then, they go on to beat the Nets in the Finals for the franchise's first title in 52 years.
