He killed them with put-backs and tip-ins. Maybe the least flashy 50+ point game ever. Have to respect it though. He's doing all the little things that winners do.

You should have tricked everyone with a “most underrated 50+ point game ever?” title to get them to watch it. Then when they disagree tell them you did it on purpose.

Thank you for posting this - I never saw the complete highlights. What an effort for McHale = all the hustle to get those rebounds and tip ins!

Kevin McHale's two highest scoring games czme back to back. His next game, he scored 42 I believe. He never had another 40 point game.

To answer you question, maybe Adrian Dantley's 57 point game. Both guys were not flashy at all so I thought of him.

His offensive rebounding that game was probably more impressive than his 56 points. Although Bird would reclaim the Celtics' scoring record a game or so later, if was good to see him continue to feed McHale as McHale was breaking his then scoring record.
