I didn't get to see Bernard King play, but it seems he is one of those overlooked players of the past. I just know a little bit about his career, was he an MVP candidate in any of the seasons before he got injured? For me, he seems some sort of "McGrady of the 80s", great, great player who was going to be one of the best until injuries happened.

I've watched quite a bit of him but of course wasn't around to hear the hype surrounding him. To me he seems like a guy who scored a lot and was really good in transition but didn't offer all that much else. I would say Gervin was more the McGrady of that era.
King was maybe more like Melo.
