I suppose it’s a matter of semantics. They use the Chinese version of prison labor which plenty of US companies do(Walmart, McDonald’s, and lots of other major ones). Difference is the camps China has people in are pretty much internment like America did the Japanese not actual “criminals” unless I’m remembering this story wrong.

Both countries use prisoners to get around anti slavery/involuntary servitude laws but China can obviously be more brazen. And I think(think) US prisoners can choose not to do the work and technically get paid some cents in a fund so people don’t call it slavery…though it’s exactly what’s outlined in the 13th amendment. You can be made a slave for punishment of crimes.

China just does whatever it wants though. And Nike operatives were hiring out the force labor as recently as 2020. I doubt anyone’s hands are clean in manufacturing over there.
