Does this look right? I'm glad they made these for wheelchair bound individuals... the ADA coming to action! Maybe blade will get a chance to tour the building on a field trip.

This is clearly the most important story going down today. I mean how can the House operate when this jerk is pulling the fire alarm?

So we should only talk about important stories like Trump, right?

Guy was a former high school principal too. Acting like he doesn't know what a fire alarm is. Lock him up just like Capitol building rioters :lol

He apparently violated the exact same law that January 6 people are being prosecuted for. Interrupting an official proceeding. According to many people on the left, this is a very serious offense, worse than 9/11. This was a threat to our democracy. So will he get prosecuted? And since he's obviously guilty, will he get sentenced to 6 to 20 years in prison?

He should be held to a higher standard. He is a black politician that directly (and on video) interrupted proceedings at a time sensitive manner. Why the hell is he sprinting to vote anyways? This is his job... and the video does not show him rushing at all.

This guy is getting too much criticism. There have been many times I've been leaving a building and mistook the fire alarm for the exit, it's an easy mistake to make. The designers of these things need to make them look less like door handles and more like alarms. He's only being targeted because he's black.

White liberals only want blacks that aren't on their plantation arrested for interfering with Capitol building business

Oh no, flip out however you want by all means. I'm just amused to see this is what is on your mind on the day that the republican party is about to dissolve the house of representatives because a few of their members have decided they can't negotiate for any reason.

Are you talking about the house speaker? This is exactly how public officials should be treated, more so the house of representatives. If one does not represent the house, they have no right being the speaker. The house voted, and hes about to get the boot. Democracy at work
Are there other things going on in this world? Yes... but it's not often someone intentionally pulls a fire alarm to delay voting.

Ok certainly not going to defend McCarthy but we now have amputated a significant part of our government. How long it will take Carthy or a centrist republican to strike a power-dharing deal with the democrats is the only question because of Haetz and friends don't back down that's the only possible resolution. By insisting they get everything they are going to make sure they get nothing. Amusing.

Whichever Republican takes over Speaker position will be at the whims of Gaetz/MTG/etc - aka a very small minority - only because they made the rules that only 1 representative is necessary to push a vote.

Along with the new speaker there will be new rules. If the next speaker gets that power by striking a deal with the democrats he or she won't allow themselves to be at Gaetz's mercy. There are basically three different groups and the next speaker must unify two. Mainstream Republicans, the democrats, and the Gaetz faction. Republicans have just learned that it is impossible to make any piece of legislating that satisfies the Gaetz faction that Biden and the senate will agree to. They can maybe after 30 votes put up another weak speaker (McCarthy is giving up) that Gaetz will get rid of the minute they pass a budget deal or they can share power with the democrats and ignore Gaetz completely. When government is divided you have to compromise so if they don't make a deal with Jeffries they're going nowhere.

Democrats can't tell a man from a woman, a violent riot from a peaceful protest, or a government plant from a domestic terrorist.
So it's kind of feasible that they can't discern between a door and a fire alarm.
