Once Plumlee was traded and he began starting, Mark Williams anchored an elite-level defense. It was the back end of the regular season but it did show serious promise. Thrust now fully into the starting center role, expect him to surprise the unaware. He's the defensive rock Charlotte has been looking for.

He's already got way more offensive skill than the Toodster. Nice soft touch and can shoot from midrange and the line. Feel like I've seen him make a few good passes as well.

I just checked this numbers. Mark is currently shooting better from 3-10 feet than Rudy ever has. But it's early and I'm not sure if it'll hold. Maybe it does. We'll see.

24/16/4 on 9/12 and 31/13/2 on 12-14 the last two games. Playing himself into shape after returning from injury and being on a minutes restriction until recently. For the year he's at 14.2/8.6/2.1 and 0.9 BPG in 21.8 MPG on 65.6 FG% and 76.3 TS% (69.2 TS%). Per 36 minutes, 23.4/14.2/3.5 with 1.5 blocks.

He definitely looks like he could be an A+ rim runner. Health is the only concern. Imagine if Charlotte lands Flagg... LaMelo Ball, Cooper Flagg, Brandon Miller, and Mark Williams. That's a great blend of offense and defense. They might be the OKC of the future.
