The Nuggets kept their roster together. Didn't they? I have not checked their bench. But their starters are still the same.

So shouldn't they be considered the championship contenders for the 2024 NBA finals?

The other contenders are all just contenders on paper. They all change their rosters. Like we don't know yet exactly how well Damian Lillard will fit in on the bucks or how well kristaps porzingis will fit in on the celtics.

The Nuggets seem like the only sure thing as a serious contender.

Of course the Celtics bucks and a few other teams probably will be contenders. But we don't know yet. But we do know about the nuggets

Their playoff rotation was 8 players. They lost two of them coming off the bench: Brown and Green. Those guys have to be replaced somehow, or some other combo made with the rest of their roster. They are counting on Christian Braun being better. The rest is uncertain, but overall, in all of two games, the bench has looked decent. Watkins and Jackson may be better than expected. Naji has a ton of energy and Strawther looked great in pre-season.

But it’s a work in progress, just like everyone else. The main difference is that people think there is vast room for improvement with the Suns, Bucks, and Celtics. Less so with the Warriors and Lakers. But the most the Nuggets can hope for is basically a slight improvement.

Betting doesn't work based on a Cabal of wise men who decide who gets to be favored or not. Betting is based on where the money goes...if people aren't putting money on the Nuggets that's all it is.

It’s been five years since a team so much as made consecutive finals much less won back to back. The champs don’t have much advantage if any.

Bucks
Nuggets
Celtics

Those 3 healthy will be impossible for any other squad to beat in a 7-game series.
Among all the rest, the Suns have the best chance against those 3

For me, they are the favorites. They know that it takes to win it all and they seem to have the right chemistry to repeat. This does not mean that teams such as the Bucks or Phoenix should be understimated, they made some great trades and they look scary. But I think people tend to overlook the Nuggets because they don't play in a glamorous "city".

But I think people tend to overlook the Nuggets because they don't play in a glamorous "city".They will certainly have the distinct chemsitry/6th sense advantage over any other squad with elite talent, perhaps the aforementioned 3 others have superlative talent to the Nuggets.

But those teams all have new pieces, which will take time to mesh perfectly and get in sync abstractly/mentally.

Nuggets have insane abstract chemsitry, that 75ft lob the other night is exhibit A, for anyone dumb enough to argue that the Nuggets don’t easily have the best 6th sense/chemsitry by far.

I thought they already were?

They’re cooking the Thunder right now. They look like they don’t have a semblance of rust on them. They’re already well oiled and ready for the playoffs.

Yeah, hard to believe people are still doubting them. But the league, ESPN and the blog boys all get hard for the Bucks, Suns and Boston and try to hype them.

Nuggets should be well deserved championship favourites.

If their young guys on the bench work out they could be better this year. Green sucked. Nnaji and Watson especially look promising.

Reggie Jackson fell off a cliff last year. If he gets his game back it will be huge for.them.

Well they are favorites. It's Nuggets and then Boston, Bucks and then after that Suns/Lakers/maybe Warriors. There's no other contenders.

Lakers aren't contenders. GS isn't either

they look just as good as they did last year if not better, and their offense was already deadly enough

The last three are on the outside looking in. I'm expecting the Nuggets to make the finals again if healthy unless things fall into place for the other 3 low probability teams.
