First of all, CP3 is my goat.

Always believed in that little midget. :lol What was most surprising tonight was that despite Klay being out, CP3 accepted to be coming from the bench and have Moody start instead. That shows that he might be fully bought in the 6th man Iggy role. I think if he stays healthy, he can win 6MOTY and be massive in the playoffs. It took until the middle of December last season to win 3 road games, they've now won 3 in a row. Even vs the Lakers, Warriors were just missing an absurd amount of open shots.

A lot is going to depend on health with 4/8 rotation players all being old as dirt, as well as the 5th being super injury prone (GPII). But if that happens and Moody/JK legitimately become useable, positive options from the bench, I will definitely be reevaluating this team's chances during the post season. Those two if they truly elevate their game like many on their 3rd year, could put out an amazing bench gang of CPIII-GPII-Moody-JK-Saric

Wiggins is back and actually playing well too. Him missing so much time last year hurt your team a lot IMO. Not talked about enough.

If they have to use him for more than half of the rs, just imagine what the condition of his body would be once the playoffs start next year. :oldlol:

Curry 15-22 with 42 points in 30 minutes. Master class. Not having to bring the ball up and handle it as much is giving him extra off ball energy. Paul can bring it up and dish more and let him conserve energy to pop off.

More efficient than your hero could ever be, i guess.

He started the first 1218 games of his career. Everyone I can find either retired before that many or occasionally came off the bench. Even Jordan, Lebron, and Duncan. I think Paul might have the record unless Kareem does(they don’t have records from the start of his career but he never officially came off the bench). Paul strikes me as the type to be aware of that.

I thought it was 1300 something. Regardless, it’s besides the point. At first when I heard people talk about that stat I didn’t really think much of it but then taking a second look, it’s actually pretty incredible. I think it would be tough for anyone to break that type of streak, especially Chris Paul.

I could see Malone or Stockton having it. Karl especially I don’t believe ever came off the bench once he became a starter so he probably had a good 18 years straight. I’m sure it’s an ego thing at some point. Hard to even blame people. Within their circles it does mean something I guess. But then you have guys like Larry bird, who got injured once and returned, and played off the bench and was fine with it. And hed already won a title. They were just playing so well he was like **** it. For a while, at least. Depending on who you ask, the coach was trying to make a point that whatever was working is how they play and bird just went along with it until it got old but either way he let it happen. He was off the bench for like 20 games lighting teams up.

imagine the coach telling a prime, MVP caliber, Kobe or LeBron they’re going to keep starting role players over them when they got healthy. We would be reading Woj talking about “sources within the organization” by game 2.

Larry Bird was one of the few superstars who put team results over personal glory. Going back to the topic, I think the Warriors can be a dangerous team in the post-season with all that experience.

LeBron voluntarily came off the bench for a game…

Malone went from a 20 point scoring all star to willingly coming off the bench for the Lakers. Similar to Paul except the Lakers were the heavy favorite for a 4 peat before Kobe's selfishness cost them. Troll favorite Gobert at least a couple of times told COTM to leave Favors in games late because they were playing well

Actually, Malone was the starting PF of the Lakers that season, I just double-checked and yes, he played 42 games starting all of them. That position was a big weakness of the team, they had Medvedenko and a very old Horace Grant as back-ups, and when the Mailman got injured in game 6 of the conference finals it was big setback for the Lakers. The Pistons attacked them from that position all the time. Had Malone played be healthy in the finals, the Lakers would make them a series for sure.

you're right. He was wiling to take a back seat as the 3rd option. Should have won regardless. That loss was on Kobe

And made even that about him. Anderson Varejao was coming off a contract dispute and this is how he handled that….

"I thought it would raise the intensity of the fans, having me, Larry and Andy come into the game at the same time -- and it worked," James said (https://www.si.com/nba/cavaliers/nba/cavaliers/news/nba-features-nba-rumors-lebron-jasmes-cleveland-cavaliers). "I thought by coming in with Andy, it might stop some of the boos Andy might get.
"(I was) just protecting my teammates."

Larry came off the bench behind an 8 and 3 ML Carr for over a month.

I suspect he didn’t care for it and he still got his minutes but he accepted it.

Boston went on like a 16-game winning streak with Larry coming off the bench. It was in either '82 or '83 at the end of the regular serason.

Boston had a long tradition of 6th man so it was part of their culture already

I disagree. Wiggins doesn't look good at all so far into the season. He's been one of the few negatives early on. Once he and Dray get into shape and play at their level, and CP finds his 3 ball, the team should be in a great spot moving forward.
