Which NBA teams in 2023 do you think have the weakest fan bases?

I guess checking team attendance would be one measure of this, and maybe TV ratings too, that would be more data driven analysis for this question. Which teams do you rarely see fans of?

And is there a logical reason for it? Like if the city is small or something.

It was, is, and probably will be for a long time the Wizards.

I don't know if they have any actual fans. Not even in Washington.

Nonsense. We have better attendence than a lot of teams in spite of the fact that we havent had a 50 win season since the 70s.

I don't live in the USA so I'm just guessing, but throughout the years I have heard the Atlanta Hawks don't have a very big fan base. From what I have personally felt, Charlotte doesn't seem to have many fans, as so many people root for the college teams.

Probably the Hornets. If we're talking physical weakness however Toronto takes the cake

Yeah, but that's because the DC area has a lot of basketball fans. They're going to see the other team though, not the Wizards lol.

This year maybe. Over the past 20 years it has been a different story. The wizards have gotten more fan support than they deserved.

From your post, I assume you're around that area. So I have to ask, are you a Wizards fan?

Yes although I really haven't watched the games the last couple of years. I was a fan going all the way back to when they won the title in '78. So many years of incompetent management just caused me to lose interest.

There was a time when I wasn't following them at all after moving to Atlanta in the early 90s. League Pass didn't exist back then.

Ok cool. I take back my statement that they have no fans. They've got at least 1.

 Jayson Tatum was selected with the Nets 3rd pick in the 2017 draft and the team, franchise and crowd just completely ignored his 10,000th point. No appreciation whatsoever.

Hawks probably have the smallest fanbase in the league.

There are a few others on here that don't post as much nowadays. One of them mentioned recently that he started doing the same thing I have been doing, watching other teams that are actually good :oldlol:

Canada is also transient. Outside hockey people only follow when the team is winning.

Base on OP. If all things are equal. Miami is the worst for NBA. Even when they are winning fans show up at halftime only to be seen at a game.

Atlanta and Houston. They just care about other sports more than basketball in atlanta. Braves, Falcons, hell even their MLS team have a more passionate fan base.

I wonder how this affects what NBA free agents do. Maybe the money is so huge now it doesn't affect it. But don't know.
