I think it's dying because literacy itself is going down. With the emergence of youtube and streaming and in general web 2.0 , written words are losing ground. It's okay. Out with the old in with the new, as the late Steve Jobs so eloquently said in his speech at Princeton. Once it was novels, then movies and now TV shows and streamable series. Discussing things on a message board needs a long attention span. Throwing a few comments under a youtube video or reddit thread do not.

And arguing over some players' performance over 15+ year careers is really old school. In other words: strange in 2023.
